Okay I went to the Dr. Today..........Im
38 weeks pregnant........The last 2 Dr.
Visits my blood pressure was
high...........The last few weeks I have
been having sweling in my feet, hands and
legs a little in the face also.........I
told the Dr. And he thinks im developing
that preclampsia.......So he stripped my
membranes to see if it makes me go into
labor.........So this evening my husband,
my son and I went walking the mall for
like 2 hours to see if that would make me
go into labor...........Ive been home for
about an hour and nothing..........Does
anyone know how long that takes after the
doc does that???? And does anyone know
exactly what that is that he did....Cause
I dont think he broke my water.
When they strip your membranes its
seperating , I forget the word but its
like seperating the thingie magig from the
wall , it kinda helps make labor progress
or dilate, some people go into labor the
same day , some a few days later, ive
never had it done personally, my sister
did. But its different or everyone jus
tkeep up the walking, saturday I walked
for almost 4 hrs lol and I had my daughter
monday but I was due wednesday the 27th

What "stripping the membranes" is, is
separating the bag of water from the
cervix. This releases hormones which
might bring on labor. And it might not.
Some women have their membranes swept
multiple times with no result, and other
women go into labor the same day or the
next. It is not guaranteed to bring
labor on. Like .Melissa said, the baby
will come when it's ready.
