The color of the eyes (or more precisely,
of the iris) is genetically determined.
Eye color is inherited from the parents.
Color is determined by two genes, one from
each parent. The gene that determines the
color brown is a dominant gene. This means
that if you inherit one brown gene, your
eyes will be brown no matter the color of
the second gene. To inherit another color
both genes must be present from your
parents and will determine the other color
(blue, green, violet, or shades in
between). For now, eye color can’t be
changed because genetic manipulations are
not yet practiced on people (we assume).
