Q: Im Sooooo Confused

I had really painful cramps today so I went the healthcare clinic to make sure everything was okay. They did an ultrasound and said the baby was 6 weeks and 5 days old and .74 cm long. And i'm like what?? I thought I was like 8 weeks along. And they said that it was 6 weeks and 5 days from conception which puts me at ovulating/concieving on november 12th. My first day of my period was november 5th. I ovulated only a week after my period started?! I was so sure I ovulated on nov 17th becuase I had ovulation cramps. So now i'm sooo confused. How far along does that make me? Everytime I go look up fetal development, should I say i'm almost 7 weeks(fetal age) or almost 8 weeks (from first day of lmp) becuase if I look up that i'm 8 weeks long..The fetal development doesn't match up at all (it should be roughly an inch big and they should see/hear a heartbeat and my baby's not even a cm and it was too small to see a heartbeat) and if I look up that i'm almost 7 weeks along, in brackets it says (5 weeks fetal age) but that's not right for me..7 weeks is my fetal age

did I confuse everyone?

Anyway..They did bloodwork to test my hcg levels and they call with results tonight..I hope everythings ok Sad

Hmm ive never had an ultrasound that early on. I always went by my period, I never could understand the whole ovulation thing, but I know the dates of my periods to a t now but eh I was only sure of my dates this time becuase of when my period ended and hubby was only visiting for 2 weeks when I got pregnant, id continue to assumeby your lmp until later on like if u get an u.S anytime after 12 weeks, good luck with the dr

Hm. That's really confusing. I don't want to scare you, but with my first pregnancy, .I was bleeding &having cramps, so .I went in &had an ultrasound, &.I should've been about 7wks pregnant, &they did an ultrasound, &the ultrasound showed that .I was only 5wks pregnant. Turns out .I had a miscarriage &the embryo hadn't passed yet. I really hope that isn't the case with you. Crying or Very sad

They're probably telling you his/her *gestational* age. Not conception age.

Well that's why I was so scared at first. Becuase I was cramping a lot so I thought something happened. But I haven't been bleeding at all so that's a good sign.

They called with my hcg results and said I was at 21, 000 and I looked it up and here are the "guideline" numbers

3 weeks lmp: 5 - 50 miu/ml
4 weeks lmp: 5 - 426 miu/ml
5 weeks lmp: 18 - 7,340 miu/ml
6 weeks lmp: 1,080 - 56,500 miu/ml
7 - 8 weeks lmp: 7, 650 - 229,000 miu/ml
9 - 12 weeks lmp: 25,700 - 288,000 miu/ml
13 - 16 weeks lmp: 13,300 - 254,000 miu/ml
17 - 24 weeks lmp: 4,060 - 165,400 miu/ml
25 - 40 weeks lmp: 3,640 - 117,000 miu/ml

mine seem a little low for 6 weeks and 5 days but the doc said the results looked pretty good..So I dunno what to think right now. I'm worried. I have my actual first ob oppointment on the 2nd and they're doing an ultrasound and testing my levels. Hopefully they rise and my baby grows Smile

I had cramping at 6 weeks and past that as well. Im sure your perfectly fine! As long as theres no bleeding.

If the baby is 6w 5d then you are 8w 5d preggo. You add 2 weeks to the gestational age. And your levels are good for that, so you were both right!

Fetal heartbeat

Ok I am trying to remain calm...but am finding it very hard to do so. My LMP was July 2nd. I am 100% positive my conception date was July 14th 2009. (we used ovulation predictor kit-and that was only day we had intercourse in July) So I went for an ultrasound(trans-vaginal) on August 21st which would put me at 7 weeks 1 day if you go by LMP. Or 5 weeks 3 days if you go conception date. Anyways-the u/s tech did not see a heartbeat and basically brought me a box of tissues like the pregnancy had ended. When my dr. called she said there was definately a pregnancy that she could see and she wants to do a repeat u/s in one week. I cannot take this waiting. Please someone tell me........should they have been able to detect the heartbeat at this point?And how far along am I if I absolutely know my conception date was the 14th?
