I have a tender spot on the middle top of
my head that has become noticeable over
the last several weeks. Recently my
touching of the spot causes headaches,
dizzines and numbness in upper body. I
have to get up and take some deep breaths
to get rid of the feeling. Its quite
alarming.
History:
I took quite a hit in that area when I
worked on a ship 20 years ago. I was
walking at a brisk pace looking at the
deck because it was slippery and walked
into metal beam hitting the middle top of
my head. It almost knocked me out but
didn't.
Question:
This worries me because I am starting to
get dizziness just thinking about the
tender spot. Is this a potentially
serious condition that I should see a
physician about?
If a simple touch on an area of the skin
of the head causes you such symptoms
(“headaches, dizziness and numbness in
upper body”) then it seems likely that
you are experiencing some sort of anxiety
rather than a neurological disorder. It
doesn’t seem likely that a head injury
20 years ago can cause such symptoms.
Nonetheless, you may consult your primary
health provider and a neurologist , if
necessary.
