Q: Hypoglycemia And Pregnancy

I found out nearly 3 years ago that I am hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Does anyone know how this will be affected by pregnancy? I am currently 7 weeks along. Are there any extra precautions that I should take? I have my first doctor's appointment in a couple of days, so I am definitely going to ask him about it; but these forums are so great, I thought would see if any of you on here had experienced the same thing.

my doctor told me not to worry about being pregnant and having hypoglycemia. I have the same problem as you. I'm currently ttc and he told me as long as I take care of myself, I shouldn't need to worry.

Thanks for your response. It took me awhile to get it under control, but I haven't had a spell in 2 years now. It really helped a lot when I learned to stay out of the sweets!!!! Hopefully all will go well.

It took me a while too.

I found out I was hypoglycemic on my honeymoon. We were touring this mansion and we were on the top floor and suddenly I couldn't see anything and heard a loud buzzing and was out like a light. I woke up and my husband was bawling (we were married 2 days before) and i'm like what's the matter with you and what the hell am I doing on the floor and why the hell is the tour guide screaming!!

The following 2 weeks was full of nothing but doctors appts. And tests. That glucose test was discusting!

You'll be fine as long as you take care of yourself. Make sure you ask the doctor any questions you have. He can't answer them if you don't ask.
