Abnormally Light Af After Bcps And Ttc Posted: 01-03-07 17:41pm
Ok, I stopped taking the pill in june.
Since then, my cycles have been fairly
regular--every 26-27 days. I am ovulating
since I am charting my bbts and have
gotten the temperature shift after
ovulation. However, all my periods have
been quite light for me. Last month it
was a little heavier but still fairly
light. I had one day of medium bleeding
then it went to light/spotting. I only
needed tampons the first 2 days (and lite
tampons the second day). Then just
pantyliners after that. My periods are
fairly long--last about 6-7 days but after
the 2nd day, it's almost all spotting.
I was definitely not like this before I
was on the pill. I had a couple days of
heavy bleeding, a couple days of medium,
then a couple days of light.
So i'm wondering--do these light periods
affect chances of pregnancy?
Also, if anyone here has had light periods
after being on birth control, how long did
it take for your periods to get back to
normal? I'm 7 months off the pill and my
periods still aren't normal!

I went off the seasonale in june so I feel
your pain. I have been doing the same
thing. I have only had to use one or two
tampons each month--it's crazy. I will
have one or two days of light bleeding or
one day of light and one day of medium and
then it will drag on with the spotting.
Believe me, I think it's just our body's
trying to get back to normal from the pill
which can take some time. It is still
possible to conceive. Jamerian-another
girl on this forum-went of birth control
in june as well. Her cycles were worse
than ours and were about 51 days apart and
she was still able to conceive. It takes
the average couple 6 months to 1 year to
conceive so just have fun and keep trying.
It will come when it is time. Feel free
to come here anytime for support.

Hi! I wouldn't worry about your light
periods. As long as you are having
regular periods (and even if you don't,
it's no cause for alarm yet!!) and it
sounds like your ovulating and charting,
then you can get pregnant. Probably just
hasn't been the right time for you yet!
As mg said, I also came off the pill in
june and had very long irregular
periods....Every 51 days or so (i only had
3), and I just found out that I am
pregnant about a week ago! It took the
hubby and I 7 tries, so don't getr
discouraged yet. If it's been a year or
over and you have not gotten pregnant,
then I would go in and talk to your family
doctor about sending you and your partner
to see a fertility specialist.
Good luck and baby dust to you!
