Finn's Schedule!
Posted: 01-07-07 14:17pm

Woo! I think finn's finally on a schedule! I'm so excited.

I was keeping him up until midnight and then putting him down asleep and he'd wake up between 5-6. Now i'm putting him to bed awake at 9:30 and I can hear him making little noises until he falls asleep on his own around 10 and he gets up around 7-7:30, then he has a bottle and usually goes back to sleep within an hour (i call it his morning nap). That's in his pack n play in our room.

I've been trying to get him to nap in his crib for a long time because I want him to get used to sleeping in there but he would wake up every 5 minutes crying.

Guess where he is right now... Napping in his crib! For the past few days i've gotten him to take his afternoon nap in his crib instead of the swing. I wait until he's drowsy and put him down awake and turn his music on and he sleeps for like 2+ hours in there. The only problem is he'll only nap in his crib on his belly which makes me nervous so i'm checking on him every 10 minutes, but he wakes up rested and happy.

So yeah, i'm thrilled! We've got a good feeding/sleeping schedule and I *really* hope it stays like this. I just feel so much more rested now!

Do you swaddle him? Finn would never fall asleep at night on his own if he wasn't swaddled, he would just flail about and yell. When I wrap him up it's like he knows that it's time for sleep and he barely fusses once I put him down.

We went through a rough patch where finn was cranky all the time and today I realized he rarely cries now. He complains and yells a lot but he doesn't cry. He's growing up too fast. Sigh.

ava's the same. A few nights ago I didn't swaddle her to see what would happen and she was sooo noisy and she moved soooo much. I was too tired to get up and swaddle her, which was stupid b/c I didn't sleep much with her moving around. My mom and dad weren't big fans of us swaddling her b/c they think she has to move while she sleeps. Well, my mom watched her the other night and she spit up on her miracle blanket and my mom had to wash it. It was bedtime so she put her to sleep without it. She said it was a disaster. She was hitting herself in the face and kept waking up. Once it was dried, she swaddled her and they slept peacefully until the morning. She said, "she really needs to be swaddled." i'm like, "yeah what have I been telling ya'll?!?"
she's over the fussiness too. She just complains. We're able to take her shopping and eat out now and she does really well. Before, she'd cry the whole time.
