I had an internal in the very beginning. My doc says they will start checking down there again when i'm 35 weeks. Maybe it has something to do with insurance? I was only able to have one .U.S because that is all my insurance (aetna) would pay for.

If you are only 34 weeks, I wouldn't be concerned. You still have 6 weeks to go. Some doctors never check until you go into labor. Talk to you doctor or his/her nurse the next time you go in to find out what to expect and when you might expect it.

My doctor check once told me I was 2 cm dilated and that it would be 'any time'. I went overdue. Your dilation doesn't matter - but some people like to know.

I think if I had the choice, I wouldn't find out.

Good luck!

My doctor doesn't check people until their due date. She said she'd do it if I asked though so when I had my group b test done (at 36 weeks I think) I figured she was already down there so why not.

I'm with ingi though, i'd rather not know. It's just frustrating either way. If you're not dilated you wonder why and if you are you think it's going to be any day and it's usually not.

My doctor starts checking after the beta strep test. He did mines at 34 weeks and checked me every week after that. It was frustrating knowing that I was 1 cm. For 5 weeks and I went 8 days over. I wouldn't want to know if I had to do it over.
