I agree with that gen! Those are the kinds of things you should really sacrifice doing once you have a child. Not saying you should never go out or have fun without your kid but not as often as you used to. If you're not ready to give some stuff up then you shouldnt plan a baby imo. You cant have it both ways....Well you can but living that way isnt fair on the child.

sure you can.

Its our duty as a mother to protect our children from things that can harm them at all costs, no matter the sacrifice.

If taking your child somewhere unnecessary (i.E., the movies) can be avoided then we dont go.

There are things we must give up when we become parents for our childrens sake. Either find a babysitter or wait til the child is considerably older and not so susceptible to infection.

Its time to start thinking of your childrens well-being and not your personal entertainment.

sandra kids are going to get sick and the best thing we can do as a mother is introduce our kid to a wild virus so that their bodies can fight if ever the get it again.

Look at cam he got rsv from his cousin, I never brought him out and since then he got sick again gastro but the thing is we can never shelter our kids from a virus their airborn you open your door you just let it in~

you have to understand kids need to get it its both healthy for the mother and kids, if that wasnt the case there wouldnt be playgroups.

I still don't see how theater speakers could be okay for a young baby's sensitive ears. Having a loud home doesn't really compare to that. But yeah, .I've said that already.

Ok well I am just going to say this and I am done.

Ok well I guess I need to get amelia in a group with the chicken pox....And then the mumps, how about scarlett fever....Oh and then small pox....Then the flu, african trypanosomiasis, cholera, measles, poliomyelitis, lyme disease, encephalitis, yellow fever, typhoid fever, salmonella, tuberculosis just in case she gets them again she could fight them better a second time around.

I think you guys are being a little dramatic. She wants to take her to the movies, not the hospital. She's not going to be putting ava on the floor or letting her lick the seats (lol, laura). People take their babies on planes and subways and city buses all the time, I think those are far most disgusting germ-wise.

The only problem I see with it is the volume and the fact that people pay an arm and a leg these days to see a movie, they might not be too happy to see a baby there.

Children to the movies - yes, that's why they show kids movies and have child price tickets.

Babies - no.
Unless it is a mother/baby session, then no-one is going to appreciate it.

I'm all for kids learning to behave out in public.
I was taken to restaurants and stuff as a child, but not before I could sit at the table and behave properly during dinner at home.

I was taken to the movies but not before I could sit and behave to watch a movie at home.

People go to the movies to chill and relax.
As a parent you give up the ability to do what you want when you want.
Go rent a movie and buy some popcorn - at least you can pause the movie is she gets upset and not miss any.

Be thankful your mother will babysit for you on occassion and take those opportunities to go to the movies.

Wait until your kid can enjoy the movies instead of just dragging baby in "because you can".

I'd actually be suprised if the cinema would let you take a baby into an evening showing.

This time of year I would be a little worried about germs. Rsv, etc., but I wouldn't say that I would never take a baby. I took my babies during the summer matinees when they were small infants and they did fine.

I think that sheltering your kids is normal. As we all want to protect and hellp our children out of harms way.

As infants, we're at our most protective. But as baba's get bigger and more independant, it's inevitable. You're going to come across germs and illness. But while you can prevent it, hell why not?!

As for the "poorly parties", I have heard of them. But in the states, all baba's *must* get vaccinated for these illnesses. I tried to refuse the .Chick .Pox vaccine, but did research and it's *manditory*, so a poorly party won't be happnening any time soon around here.

Being over protected to the extreeme can cause problems with babies *detatching* from their mother. I.E, doesn't want to play without mommy, can't venture off, without mommy, etc.

I have to agree with 99% of yall with the comment of:"to each their own"

Some of these responses are soooo ridiculous. I have so much to say, but i'm speechless. I rather not respond b/c i'd just wind more people up and those people seem to live for that. I rather not humor you anymore. Goodnight!

I don't think this should be a big issue.

Jessesgirl(sorry, I don't think I know your real name Sad ), personally I wouldn't bring a baby to the movies for 2 reasons 1. It's way too loud for a baby, and 2. When I go to the movies, I go to enjoy it. It may not be possible with a baby?
