So, us and our neighbors have been going round and round with ours and their dogs!!!

They have a mother and baby chow/pitt mix and we have our pitt and our american bulldog.

Well, the neighbors dogs *continually* get off of their leash from the back yard and run around the hood. They also bark at the wind. I don't know if it's the wind, or their shadows... Rolling Eyes

anyways, normally, the barking isn't a problem. But .Oni is teething and any little noise will wake her up when she's on the brink of sleep.

So, for the past week, I haven't been able to put her to sleep in her crib because them stupid ass dogs won't shut the hell up!

I went outside and yelled at them to "shut them dogs up!" nothing happened, and they continued to bark. So I went in the back yard and told the dogs to "shut the hell up!"

nothin happened....So I said medical answer em...Imma call somebody. I can't be the *only* person bothered by this.
So I called animal control. They told me to call the .Sheriff's office. Now, i'm not one to call the cops on people. I like to keep my peace with *everyone*, especially neighbors. But i've have *enough* Evil or
Very Mad !!

So I filed(anonymously) a report of neuscance dogs. The neighbors *are* home, because I just watched them step outside for a cigarette. But when the cop rang their doorbell, nobody answered. Now, there's a car in the drive way, so it's totally obvious that they're home. And their dogs were barking up a storm!!

So, the cop just left. Evil or
Very Mad

i haven't heard them bark since the cop left. But if they didn't asnwer the door, how the hell do they know what the cop wanted? I mean, besides me yelling at them to shut them dogs the hell up!!

Grrr!! I hate these people!! This isn't the 1st incident we've had with them! They're *scum*!!!

perhaps yelling at the neighbors and their dogs wasn't the best way to go with this. Do they know you have a teething baby and it's hard for her to rest when the dogs bark? They might be a little more sympathetic if they knew your circumstances.

You are headed down a course in which their dogs will be victims. Try to diplomatically work things out before you call anyone. I have really, really scummy neighbors too, and have found out that a little talking can go a long way. Good luck!

I have that problem at the moment...Our neighbours dog gets let out at around 7 pm every single night and starts barking for as long as it's out there...Which is usually for over an hour. It's so hard to concentrate on anything while it's out there.

I just have to shut all my windows and get over it cos I don't believe that calling the cops will do much.

I don't blame the dog, I mean it's freezing outside and it's owners should let it out only for a pee or whatever it wants to do and then let it back in but instead they incredibly leave it out there for ages Rolling Eyes

I had a problem with the neighbors dogs too. And I called animal control and they told me I was not the only one who has had a problem with them. He asked me if I wanted to sign a warrant for them to be arressted and I said yep. Solved that problem quick there dogs have not been running loose and barking like hell anymore

We have issues with our neighbors and their dog too. We live in a condo and the rules are you have to leash your dog, well they don't but the guy is on the condo board so we can't even complain because he'll be the one to get our complaint! So our dog, rudy, doesn't get along with other dogs and they just let their dog out free and he'll come barreling over barking like crazy and he'll start biting at rudy. One time rudy pulled nick over because the other dog was antagonizing him and nick got tripped up by his leash, well nick lost it because I was 9 months pregnant and it could have been me out there walking him. He yells at the lady to leash her dog and she says "well, he's just not used to being on a leash", I guess that means he doesn't have to follow the rules and can run free. Then the guy comes over later to "work something out" and says "well, we've been here for 20 years" as if that means they get more rights then us. Grr... It still angers me.

Now we just let rudy attack their dog if it starts with him. We still have him on a leash so if their dog gets injured and they try to do something, oh well, they're the ones breaking the rules!

I hate neighbors and I hate living in a condo and being so close to them.

they know their dogs are annoying. It doesn't matter whether the baby is teething or not. They're disturbing the peace of the entire neighborhood. I can't stand people that are that inconsiderate!! They don't need to be sympathetic, they need to obey the law. Sorry but I get riled up with people like that. I trained my dogs not to bark and I have a neighbor with a lab that barked all day long and she tried to blame it on me. I told her off.

They know good and well we have a baby. We weren't always bickering with them. The dog issue is one of the *last* things they have to worry about.

K is right, they're disturbing the peace and we're not the only neighbors complaining.

We've talked. And it did nothing. So I had to take that extra step.

It's like, if it bothers me, it's *got* to bother them!! I mean hell, they're home alllllllllllll day long and the dogs bark alllllllllllll day long!!!

I dunno, .Sarah. Maybe they've learned to tune it out. Like when you go to the grocery store and there are kids running everywhere acting like damn fools - throwing boxes of cereal off the shelves, ripping open packages of toilet paper, screaming and running down aisles, etc... And the parents are just like Rolling Eyes checking their shopping list or whatever. And you're like "are you blind?? Don't you see what your children are doing??" Evil or

my point was that I would hate to see the dogs suffer because you stood in the backyard, yelled at them, didn't get a response, so you called animal control.

You said you 'talked with them'. I am glad to hear it, because I got the impression you just stood in the backyard and yelled. I mean, did you really thinking yelling at the dogs to shut up would work? Wink

i am one of those people that try to speak for animals since they don't have a voice. It's unfortunate for all when you have idiots for neighbors-babies and dogs alike! And it's dangerous for the dogs to run off leash in the neighborhood like that. Do your neighbors know that happens as well?

I ask all these questions because people make assumptions alot. My old neighbors assumed I wasn't bothered by their loud late night stereos, and I in turn assumed they were suckers for not knowing it was bothering me. A little chat cleared it up.

Good luck!

I dont feel like I have to speak to my neighbors. They should be smart enough to know that if I wanted a dang dog I would get one but since I dont have one means I dont want their dogs barking or in my yard. I could careless if my neighbor dogs suffer. Laughing

I know this is the pregnancy forum...I can only hope you're not procreating.

you do not have to be an animal lover to have empathy for a creature who is suffering. We are all on this earth together.
