Ovarian Cysts- Syptoms?
Posted: 01-10-07 19:17pm

Ok- for a few months now- probably almost 4- I have had lower right pain in my abdomen/pelvic area. My first thought when the pain started was omg my appendix so I rushed to the er- cat scan showed no problem with my appendix so the doctor suggested ovarian cysts- he said the pain should go away on it's own- and it did for like a week or so but it has been back and pretty constant since then. I have gotten ultrasounds done, pelvic exams, and pap smears all with no results. I have decided to start birth control pills with my next cycle in hopes that this discomfort will go away.
More recently I have had pain that goes around my groin, in my butt and down my leg- especially hurting in my knee. My knee feels like it is ready to explode at times. The pain will also continue all the way down to my foot at times. So I was wondering if this could be connected to ovarian cysts or it is something completely different.
I was also wondering if anyone who has had ovarian cysts could explain the pain or discomfort that it brough to them because I still have no real proof that is what is wrong with me it is just speculation at this point. I am so frustrated though and I hope everyday when I wake up I will just feel normal again but I haven't had any luck so far Sad any help will be greatly appreciated- thank you!

i have had these same symptoms as you. I have had a cat scan and I did have an ovarian cyst, but the doctor said that it was so small and that it would probably go away on its own. Since I found out, I still get the pain every now and then. So maybe your pain could be from a cyst.

Those symptoms could also be related to your back. Different problems with your spine can cause abdominal pain and radiating pain pown into the groin, buttocks, legs and even feet. I would also explore that route, an orthopaedic surgeon might be able to help. Some doctors just assume it is female problems when you have abdominal pain, but that is not always the case. I have had 4 surgeries for endomitriosis and always had a cyst removal on my right side. It would cause pain in my back and right side of my abdomin, but just during my cycle. It was painful, but I never experianced radiating pain like you are describing.
