IVF (In vitro fertilization) via ICSI Posted: 01-11-07 09:35am
Back in year 2000 I went through
infertility treatment,got pregnant through
my first IVF and gave birth to a healthy
boy. At that cycle the Dr. retreived 17
eggs which 10 got fertilized both
naturally and through ICSI. This year, I
wanted to repeat the treatment. Dr.
decided that a micro ZIFT is a better
choice. They retrieved 10 eggs. 4 was
fertilized via ICSI and transfed into my
fllopian tube. The other six went through
ICSI. The whole cycle was a failure. I
didn't get pregant and none of the eggs
became embryos!! Now my question is why
none of my eggs got fertilized in the lab?
SHould I repeat the cycle? Thanks
It seems likely that your eggs were
fertilized but the fertilized egg-cells
didn’t successfully implant into the
uterus’s mucosa (endometrium). The
reason for that is still unknown to
medical science. You can repeat the
procedure, because that is the only
possibility currently practiced to
fertilize the egg and facilitate
conception.
