Q: Need Something Explained

I went to the doc today and she told me that the babys head is "right there" and that my cervix is behind her head. What does that mean? I asked the doctor what she means by tthe babys head being "right there" and " the cervix being behind babys head" but she didnt give me an explantion. She just looked at me as if I was stupid.

Can anyone explain this too me? And will it cause complications?

I tried looking it up but nothing really explained this.

The baby's head is right on top of your cervix. Your cervix needs to be 10cm dilated for the baby to come out. Having the baby's head resting on your cervix is a good sign. It means you are getting close to the end.

I hope that explained it a little.

Good luck!

Everybody who is close to the end has their babies head right there unless its a breech baby...Otherwise its normal.

Foxy- I agree! My docotor is an ass! I asked her at my appointment 2 wks ago if the baby had dropped. She said she doesnt use that term and that its an 'old person saying'. I was like excuse me ms health forum! I so wanted to tell her that many of times but I didnt. She wasnt like this at the beginning of my pregnancy.

Michelle- im feeling okay except for all the pregnancy pains! Lol I have severe heartburn and acid reflux. Yuck! Along with back and pelvic pain! The end of pregnancy really stinks!! I cant wait to see my little girly! Smile

was she pointing to you or did she have her hand on near your belly?

Because to say something like the head is right there - indicates that there was some body language to complement the spoken word.

she was checking me at the time she said it.

After she checks me, she says " okay" then says "any questions" she never tells me how im pregressing without me having to ask first. And when I do ask its like she gets annoyed. When I asked if I was dilated any and wen she said "fingertip" I asked her if walking would help things move along, she sad "no!" like I was a damn dog doing something wrong! I feel stupid because shes making me feel like I should know every little medical term she uses. If she even says anything at all!! Suprised me that she told me that little bit yesterday without me having to ask.

are you taking anything for your heartburn? I agree, the end is hard to deal with emotionally and physically.
I can't wait to see your little girl too!!!

For the most part, I feel like hell! Or at least right now I do! I have my highs and lows, and lately, it's been more on the low side Sad .

Little .Brian cheered me up yesterday. He's been wanting to come with me to my appt. To her .Jersey's hb, but my next appt. Conflicts with his pizza day at school. So I let him know that he could come with me on the following appt. So he wouldn't lose pizza day. His response to me was "my family is more important" awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!

I love my boys Smile

i have tried taking eveything that is safe. None of it helped!! Not even the prescriptions she gave me. They just made my chest hurt and still had the heartburn and acid reflux!

Im sorry you feel down. I hope you get to feeling better!! Things are very tough during these last few weeks. I didnt think it would drag me down like this. I thought I would be bursting with joy but nope these hormones have made me feel down. I feel like im on a rollercoaster ride. I been having days were I feel like crying (and most of the time I do) because im afraid that I wont be a good mother, which I know I will, and afraid shes going to have a birth defect. Regardless if she does I will still love her the same. I just want the best for her and I know how cruel this world can be and I just dont want my little girl to go through what I been through. Damn im fixing to cry again!! Lol
ah hormones!

Awe your boy is so sweet!!!! Smile

if I remember correctly, in another post .Kia mentioned that she took something for heartburn that worked like a charm.....I can't remember the name of it and I can't find the post. But maybe you can find out from her what she used then ask your doctor if you can try it.

ok that would say to me that she was indicating that the baby's head was "right there" where she was feeling.

As for the rest of it just be a bit blase - ignore her attitude and get one of your own.
Ask questions and if she doesn't answer, ask it again.
If you don't understand say "could you explain please, this is my first pregnancy and I don't understand what you just said".

I dunno, in your mind think of her as a trainee and that she is there to answer your questions. - pretend she's like forgotten to make up one side of her face or is wearing odd shoes or something dumb.

im always biting my tougne when im around her because I dont want to go off the wall with her. (i have an attitude problem and I get p'oed very easy) next week when I go back. Im going to have alot of questions to ask her, even duh! Ones and if she does that to me again. I will file a complant against her and move down the hall to a diff obgyn. I dont care how late it is, I want my questions answered and im tired of having to come home and googleing everything and asking women thats been pregnant or that is because shes too goody goody to answer my damn questons.
