does she work? I'm sure they have programs out there to help her out and stuff. If people/animals are going to be hurt, something needs to be done.

I hope everything works out mel. Good thing whit is only on house arrest too!
she is in a probram at school right now and they go I think 3-4 times a week to wal-mart to work. Its not for money its just for experience so it helps them get jobs.I think she can get a job at wally world after she graduates.I'm nto sure about the housing thing. There is this place called the rainbow home but I think you have to complety know how to take care of yourself and I don't think she is mature enough for that, yet maybe thats what she needs.

I've gotten into several fights with her, yelling an physical through the years.I know that sounds bad but she goes off sometimes with calling people a "stupid dumb b*tch","prostitute" and what not and when I try to get her away from whitney she goes off on me. I'm protective of my dog so when she does that i'm like "beth,if you ever kick my dog in the throat again I wont stop her from biting you".So she kicks me and whitney freaks out again. . . .Ahhhhhhh.

when the guy called me thismorning I told him she kicked her and she bit him.But I also said it wasn't the first time she has kicked her but that *is* the first time whitney bit her.And I told him she barked at her first so my sister had plenty of time to know what the hell was gonna happen. She wont get into any more trouble I think.

My brother is 17 and has the mental capacity of about a 12 or 13 year old.. He has always been horrible to animals. He put my puppy in a freezer.. Poured gasoline on my black lab.. Slammed his foot onto my kitten and killed her.

But yeah they know what they are doing is wrong.. Its all for attention. I just think that they dont know the *extreme* wrongness of it.. They sorta associate it with like, cussing or something.

Isn't that what group homes are for? Teaching and promoting positive behaviors?

I live in maine and that is what I do, I oversee residential services for adults with intellectual challenges (what used to be called mental retardation) and mental health issues. We have people that reside in our homes that are high functioning and can do most things without assistance or with support only. Then we have other clients that are profoundly challenged and require 24/7 supervision.

I think it's too bad that your dog is paying the price for your sister's temper. I think sometimes people with such challenges continue to do be abusive to others (people and animals) because they have never been held accountable for it. I'm .N.O.T saying she should be put in jail, but some kind of consequence sometimes works for some people. If she has the intelligence of a 13 year old, she certainly does know the difference between right and wrong.

I wouldn't give your sister another change to make your dog the victim. Unfortunately the animal most always lose biting battles. Here a dog would be put down for biting a person regardless of the reason. It's too bad. Some people deserve to be bit.

Good luck. What does house arrest entail for a dog?

That's doing it sick emma. At 13 I knew the difference between right and wrong and could never stand to watch another living thing suffer.

yeah, but they would *never* tolerate her,not in a mmiliion years.I think though that sometimes she would be better off, maybe she would act like more of an adult since she would be away form her paretnts ya know? I think she's getting to that age and thats why she's acting out so much

well, the guy said its quarentine btu explained it like its 10 day house arrest for a dog. I am suppose to be getting stuff in the mail and I have to make an appointment for the vet on the 30th so he can sign her release papers so she doesn't have to be on house arrest anymore

she's not getting any help.No doctor no therapist. She just needs to be out and do her own thing and make her own money.I think thats what she wants, but she's trying to get attention the wrong way .Is not cool

Melissa,

w.O.W!!! Florida must be very different than here. We have people that live in our homes that can be downright mean. They bite, hit, kick, spit, and are a verbal nightmare, but that is what we do. I can't tell you how many times I had to pull a 300 pound adolescent boy off a peer when I worked with kids. It's a little better with adults, but not much.

I think you are right, it she got out and away from your parents, who without a doubt baby her (enable) she would probably be a different girl.

Still too bad about the dog. Crying
or Very sad

I think she needs to go to a group home. She is just too much for my family to handle and it getting rediculous. I think it's the fact that she wants to be on her own ad make her own money but she can't right now so she's throwing an adult tantrum

my brother was in a group home, and they gave him jobs to do and made him work and stuff and they paid him. He is slow and has major anger problems....But he is also handycapped too. And i'd have to say about 19 is when they put him in a home....

oh no! My parents do not baby her. They treat her as normal as possible. The only people that *do* baby her,are new people who don't know her.I think she kinda takes advantage of that

it was a home that placed the people in 4 person homes in a nice community. It was really lovely.....But then when he got sick he is back with his mother. He is in a weelchair....Now. And doesn't really bother too many people.
