I never bothered getting one because I always lived real close to a metro and worked in the city and found no reason to pay for parking at home (you need a permit to park on most streets if you don't have a driveway) and pay for parking at work, plus gas and insurance and all that crap for nothing. Plus finding parking here is .R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S

i've decided to go for my permit next month just so that if I want to rent a car and go camping or something with trey, i'll be able to.

If you live in the city... Ya. My friend pays 100$ a month for a parking permit cause she lives downtown and indoor parking would cost her 350$ a month!!!!

Plus the permits have #'s and each is onnly valid for a certain area. Like she couldn't park in the reserved parking near my place with her permit.

And parking here is retarded!! Really. Some spots have like 3-4 signs. No parking mon-fri, plus no parking saturdays 4-6pm, no parking 7-7 between april-dec. Like all of them on one parking post!! Lmao

if anyone has ever read any kathy reichs (deja dead, etc..) books she totally explains montreal parking to a tee!!! Lol

The rules here are stupid! I hate it.. First u do as writen test (really hard I failed 4 times) the u gert ur learners where u have to have someone who is over 25 with there full licence that they had for 5 years or more, nobody else can b in the car, u have this for a year (expires in 2 years) then u do a driving test to go for ur n (can go for full licence after 2 years expires in 5 years) where u can only have on passionger in the car unless its imidant family. U also have to have a megnetic n or l on your car depending on ur licence, if u fail to have the l or n on your car you get 2 point on your licence and a 150$ fine... With ur l if u get a fine so does the person whos teaching u to drive, for your n you can get 5 point to ur licence then it gets taken away until u go for ur n again and start your 2 years all over again... If any alcohol is on ur breath (even from cough syrup or mouth wash) ur licence is taken away..

Those rules are ridiculous.

Here (in nh) you get to start driving when you're 15 1/2 with a parent, no permit needed. You take driver's ed through school or privately, you take a written test and a driving test, then you get your license. Easy-fo-sheezy! I completed driver's ed and passed with flying colors then had to wait a couple months until I turned 16, I got my license on my 16th birthday.

wow the system's really changed since I got my license... When I got mine I took the written test, went to my driving school (only cuz I chose to) and I could drive with anyone over 19 as long as they had their full license. I can also have as many ppl in the car as I want and I still have my .N... That sucks that they made these new rules. As soon as my bf gets his new car i'm booking my road test for my full license. I got my .L when I was 16 (a week after my birthday) and had my .N shortly after my 17th birthday.... Although I did fail once, but I still maintain it wasn't my fault...

jess, if u were here it wouldn't matter if u were over 25 or not. New driver rules would still apply.... It sucks.

In il it pretty easy to get your license. When you are 15 you can go to drivers ed (in the public school system or like me private lessons) and get your permit. You then have to have 25 hours of driving time with an adult over the age of 21. When you turn 16 you go in and take a road test. I think that it is really easy and since I was able to do private I got the whole thing done with in 3 months. Not bad if you ask me. Oh, if you are over 18 though all you have to do is go in take a written and a road test and then you have it.
