Could This Be Chron's?? Posted: 01-20-07 00:11am
I am 17 yrs. Old and have been
progressively getting sicker for over a
year. The past 7 months have been the
worst, with nearly constant abdominal
pain, nausea, vomiting, difficulty passing
gas, middle back pain, extreme tenderness
of the stomach, sides and back, heartburn
and chest pain, occasional pale fatty
stool, blood in stool(nright red) and
vomit(both red and black). I was
misdiagnosed with celiac disease, and
since then have been found to have a
hiatal hernia and barrett esophagus. My
gastroenterologist is convinced something
else is going on. He is currently testing
for chron's disease, which my uncle has.
In the meantime I have no energy and this
is affecting my life greatly. I've
dropped to 100 pounds, have had to
temporarily stop my schooling, and go on
sick leave from work, which I really can't
afford. I am overwhelmed and running out
of options, with my doctor getting no
closer. If anyone has an opinion on what
it could be, i'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks.

I was finally diagnosed with chron's
disease today. Relieved that the testing
and waiting's done, but at the same time
feeling slightly overwhelmed...

Sorry to hear you have been diagnosed with
Crohn's. I have had Crohn's since l was 11
and have had surgery to remove my colon
and have now got a permanent Ileostomy.
I hope you get the treatment you need and
good luck with it all.
