Happy Stuff - And a Question

Okay, question first:
.Alyvia is on rice cereal. We've
increased her to two meals of cereal a
day. The paperwork I got from my
pediatrician said to start veggies before
fruits (because if they get used to sweets
first, they might reject the veggies) and
to try the yellow veggies first.
So today I picked up some .Gerber 1st
foods sweet potatoes. They're good until
.October, so I figured if she isn't ready
for them yet .I'll just wait a bit. But
when would be a good time to try them out
on her? Should I wait until we move on to
another kind of cereal, or is it okay to
start now while she's on rice?
~~~happy stuff~~~
.I went shopping with my baby girl today!
We had a .Target gift card for $100, so I
packed her up and off we went! She was
such a good little thing, didn't whine or
fuss the whole time. She just chewed on
her platypus and sucked on her fingers. I
had so much fun just taking my time,
looking around at stuff.
And the best part: they had .Buffy season
7 on sale for $17.99!  I snagged it up
faaaast! But the poopie part is, they
didn't have seasons 1-6 even at regular
price, so I might be a little bit lost.
It's all good though!
it was such a relaxing afternoon. *sigh*
.I'm so happy!
Some people skip cereal all together so it
doesnt matter. I had a friend whose baby
wouldnt even touch cereal but loved
veggies and fruits.
Ah I love giftcards :d
Green veggies: even if baby takes them to
begin with, it is likely they will begin
to reject them.
Yes, there is a reason why kids hate
greens lol
as the taste buds develop green veggies
often taste "bitter" to a baby or young
child.
If this happens just drop them for a while
then re-introduce them later.
Orange and yellow veggies usually go down
well.
And yup, as nat said, you can just go
right in with the veggies.
If you are making your own just be sure to
run them through a sieve of something to
make certain they are totally lump free.
I started with veggies, but ethan still
doesn't really like them. He's been
eating baby food for about 2 1/2 months,
but he doesn't like it very much. I don't
know how the hell he is ever going to eat
regular food. I try to give him finger
foods, like tiny bits of pears, but he
just gags on them. I don't know what to
do.
trace is the same. I was told its cause
of his reflux and he still has a pretty
strong gag reflex... Was told it will
just take time and not to push solids too
much if he isnt intereseted.
You should start with veggies. But the
green veggies are waaaay thicker than
yellow/orange.
Carrots cause the least gas. Sweet
potatoes can cause a farty baba!!
I loove gift cards!! Sometimes I feel
like they suck, becasue the person put no
thought behind the gift....But I looove em
when I use em!!
carrots gave trace such extreme gas and he
had cramping and screamed for 2 days.
He did great with sweet potatoes.
Each baby is different.
We tried a tiny taste of the sweet
potatoes tonight, and .Alyvia made an
"eww!" face and did a full-body shudder.
I let her gum the spoon for a minute (she
kept doing the faces and shudders) and
then put the rest in the fridge. We'll
try again tomorrow.
i still have like $30 on that gift card.
I think .I'll save it and keep an eye out
for a cool sale or something!
Chu didn't do too well on veggies at
first. We had to start him with fruits.
After he got used to the feel of baby
food we moved into veggies. He'll eat
either now with no problems. Except
green peas...He screams when we give him
green peas. Unless it's split pea
soup... Go figure!
if you want you can mix some of the sweet
potato with her cereal to dilute the
flavor a bit, so that she can get used to
the idea of flavor....Because milk and
cereal are basically bland tasting, and
introducing such a punch of flavor
probably has her in a bit of shock lol
that sounds like a great
idea.
I guess you can mix in most veggies and
fruits
Yes, I did it with everything....The
rice/oatmeal/barleycereal just takes on
the taste of whatever you put in
it.......Just milder
Yeah, mixing with cereal actually works
very well. We still do it sometimes but
usually as a way to thicken his food
instead of thin it now.
