Skin irritation on eye lid
Posted: 01-25-07 20:17pm

I intend to seek medical attention in the next 24 hours if the condition presists. This being said, I was wondering if it would be of any help to apply Polysporin (in a small crum size dose) to my eye lid - which i believe is infected, or is having an alergic reation of small bumps along the lid. I would appreciate any suggestions, or cautions of what to do and what not to do. Thanks to any one who replys.

According to your description (“small bumps along the eye lid”) you are probably experiencing some type of inflammation caused by an infection or allergy. You must first visit an ophthalmologist for a precise diagnose and proper treatment. An ophthalmologist might recommend Polysporin. Polysporin is a combination of 2 antibiotics (polymyxin B and bacitracin) and can be helpful in cases of bacterial eye infection. It has no effect in cases of viral infections or allergies but it won’t worsen the condition, either. You won’t harm the eye if apply Polysporin to the eye lid, no matter the cause.
