Wish Me Luck

I go to a specialist tomorrow for a level two ultrasound. My doctor didn't refer me so I made my own appt. When I talked with this doctors office, they were amazed at the unprofessionalism my doctor showed by not referring. I am very nervous, scared yet relieved because hopefully we will get some answers. My belly is getting bigger and I haven't been leaking. I still have some pain but it's not bad. If it was a blood clot, perhaps my body is just healing. Oh, I can't wait for answers. I do have to go prepared for bad news, too. Something more can be wrong.

I will write more after my doctor's appt tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. Sorry to be so glum but I just read that strep b can cause the premature rupture of membranes. If you have that, the chances are high you can pass it on to the baby and the baby may not make it. If the baby makes it, the chance for c.P, neurological disorders, etc...Are high. Statistics suck!!!

Didn't kia say that once??

Here I am thinking that the baby has already beaten amazing odds by actually having the membranes seal, which is rare for a spontatneous rupture not one caused by an amniocentsis just to discover that if the baby makes it to birth the chances of strep b are high because it could have been received during the whole prom thing. I also read that if you are highly colonized, then that can cause your mucous plug to disappear! I was always wondering why I never saw one for lil' nate!!!

Try not to worry about things that might not even be happening, you will send yourself loopy. The internet can be your worst enemy when you're worrying about things like that becauise you can find all sorts of scary crap. Good luck at your doc's appointment, fingers crossed for you.

not that I recall.

Strep b is routinely tested for (in the us) just before the end of the pregnancy (36-38 weeks). Strep b doesn't usually cause a problem but if you test positive they tend to have you in hospital on an antibiotic iv drip.

Or sometimes suggest a c-section instead.
The infection can be passed on as the baby passes through the birth canal - which is why they sometimes suggest the c-section.
