Painting While Pregnant Posted: 01-26-07 10:34am
Have any of you done this? We are
building a bedroom to have room for the
baby and it will need to be painted soon.
I hate asking others to help because I
know they are always busy, and my husband
is a terrible painter. I'm just curious,
I have read a lot of conflicting
information on this topic. But it seems
that most of what I have read says that if
you are out of your first trimester and
it's not an oil based paint, it's ok.
Just wanted to get some of your thoughts
on the issue.

No oil based paints and no using the
roller. I helped paint trey's room when I
was about 7 months preggo but I did all
the lower stuff and borders (painted
borders in the middle)
if your hubby's that bad, try and find a
student or something that would do it for
40$ or whatever. A room shouldn't cost
too much.

I asked my doc this question at my last
appt. She said as long as there is good
ventilation in the room she was fine with
it. The average everyday water based
paint is ok.
She said using paints to cover stains
(kiltz or something similiar) or the paint
that you use that hardens in to be a
chalkboard is too strong.
Her biggest fear is that I will get up on
a chair or stepstool and fall.

Hey hun! I painted our whole entire house
with 2 coats of primer, 4 coats of trim
and 2 coats of regular paint lol at 36
weeks. Aslong as u arent in the room for
the primer, and if the paint is non toxic
( no smell ) ur fine!

Thanks for your responses. I'm sure I
will still have to find someone to help
out, my husband probably won't let me
anywhere near a paintbrush. He is so
paranoid.....
