Obviously the tree isn't getting enough
moisture.
It puts out more "main" roots,
unfortunately those roots don't reach the
ground and "dry" out thus making the tree
put out more roots in search of water.
The tree probably won't live that long in
all honesty.

I would say the tree has a complex. It
