Risk factors for another miscarriage will depend upon the original factors that provoked the first miscarriage. If those factors are still present, there is a big risk for another miscarriage. Reasons for miscarriage vary:
1. Congenital aberrations (chromosome and genetic) ;
2. Viral infections;
3. Exposure to radioactive irradiation;
4. Chemicals (including medicines);
5. Endocrine disorders (diabetes, hyperthyroidism…);
6. Uterine disorders (malformations, myoma, endometrial adhesions due to trauma or infection);
7. Placenta disorders (abruption, placenta previa);
8. Infections of the vagina and cervix that spread to the chorion;
9. Polyhydroamnion (increased amount of amnial liquid);
10. Kidneys’ disease,
11. Cervical failure, and
12. Unknown reasons.
You can consult your obstetrician about all these factors and to discuss possible risks.
