i had a hernia operation about 5 weeks
ago, and since the 2nd week i've been
having pains in my penis, particularly
whilst getting erections. I dont the the
medically correct term to describe what is
actually hurting, as the doctors keep
saying there are no 'tendons, ligaments or
cords' in the penis, but for the sake of
this topic i'll use the term 'cord'.
Theres two cords on either side of the
central vein on the upper side of the
penis, that you probably wont realise that
they exist untill one starts dramatically
hurting and possibly get tighter. I had
the operation on my right side, an
inguinal hernia if thats the correct
spelling/name, and had a mesh put in.
Every time I get an erection, the 'cord'
on the right side of my vien starts
hurting at the base of the penis, and it
feels like the cord has somehow got a lot
tighter (due to the extension of the penis
on the erection obvously). I've traced
this cord from an area originating in the
head of the penis, through skin on the
base of the penis, to an area around my
hernia operation scar where the cord goes
deep beneath the skin.
My presumption is that the swelling area
underneath the scar is in the way of this
cords natural course/home/nieche, causing
it to take a new course around the
swelling, making it considerably tighter
in the event of an erection. This leads
me to ask a few questions:
1) has anyone else had this problem?
-did it go away eventually?
-how long does it last for?
-how did you fix it?
-please tell me more...
2) how long does the swelling under the
scar last? My doctor is one hell of an
optimist, he said i'd be under just pain
killer pains after the operation and i'd
be able to fully exercise and lift weights
after 3 weeks. Realistically, how long
does it take for the swelling to go down?

I was looking through posts for problems
such as mine. Your post fits the bill.
How are you now? What did you find out?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hernia sergury is very painful. It is not
uncommon to have some radiating pain in
and around the surgical site. If it get to
the point that it is a 5 or more on the
pain scale of 1-10, I would call your
surgeon. Could just be something that is
common and goes along with the surgery.
