i need some advice. I am a 34 year old
male with an anal fissure. I developped
the fissure about 2 years ago and since
then have been struggling with pretty bad
pain on a regular basis. I've tried
reading as much as possible about fissures
on the internet, and have tried many
things to try and heal it. Unfortunatly
it never heals completley and keeps coming
back.
My doctor has advised me to have a lateral
sphincterotomy. I'm told that the
procedure is very effective in resolving
the fissure but I am worried about the
possible side effects of cutting the anal
muscle might have on me. My doctor
reassured me that allthough this is a
risk, it is very rare and he would go
ahead with it if he were me.
I would like to hear from others who have
had a lateral sphincterotomy. And advice
or insight on the procedure or results
after the procedure would be greatly
appeciated.
I would especially like to know if people
have had any incontinents due to the
procedure.

Hi,
I am having your same problem, almost for
a year, and tried some cream for 6 weeks
and did not work. I am scheduled for
surgery and am very worried about the side
effects... Did you have the surgery after
all? Would you recommend it?
Please let me know, I am really want to be
sure I am doing the right thing!
