Q: Is my pregnancy normal?... ultrasound + hCG levels
asked by: DoctorQuestion on January 31st, 2007
I just found out last week that I am pregnant (with a home test). My breast were swollen and painful for a full week, but this morning they feel normal (although they are still large) and I am panicked thinking that I will lose the baby. I have no morning sickness yet. SHould I go to the doctor to have my HcG levels checked? Is this normal?

If your home pregnancy test was positive, you can go to your gynecologist and request and ultrasound scan. Ultrasounds detect whether a pregnancy is normal, or not. Swollen and painful breasts and morning sickness are not secure signs of either pregnancy or a normal pregnancy. Ultrasound scans and HCG-level monitoring are relevant parameters for considering a normal pregnancy.

hcg lavel at 11,000 week 5, is this normal?
I thought I was in week 5 and had a hcg level of 4500, then a second test yesterday at wwek 6 at 11,000. My doctor seems very worried. However, i now believe I am one week later than I first thought, so the first scan was only at week 4 and the second at week 5. Are my readings normal? I am also pcos and taking metformin.
