This article states that the us is one of the worst countries ( when it comes to having a family friendly work environment. Only 5 out of 173 countries surveyed don't offer some kind of paid maternity leave..Us is one.

Yea I Know
Tell me about it. My job treats employees like dirt, and if they dont like it they can easily be replaced.

*sigh* this is one thing I really don't like about the .U.S. My job went steadily downhill as soon as I became pregnant, my boss had little (if any) sympathy for me when I was sick, and especially later when I couldn't do certain tasks anymore (things that required ladders or bending over/squatting on the ground). He was also hard on other employees who had ill children. As far as he was concerned, it wasn't a worthy excuse to be late to/miss/leave early from work. And for the most part, the law backs him up.

Yeah, i'd like to see him make it to work when with a sick child and no sitter... Rolling Eyes some daycares won't even let you bring your child if he/she looks sick. What a douchebag!!!

He's never been married and doesn't have a girlfriend. He's a miserable man with a bad heart. No one wants him. I wonder why. Rolling Eyes

We are allowed 12 weeks off, which is covered by fmla, but it's unpaid unless you have paid for short term disability. I have to use my leave time when I go out for maternity leave. I only have about a month saved up. My employer pays for my medical insurance, and will continue to do so for the time i'm out, but I have had to pay extra so my daughter's insurance will still be in effect.

I have to say that my employer is great about taking time off or whatever, but i'm also paid on salary, so they usually get over 40 hours out of me every week anyway.

I hate maternity leave! My husband is getting a second job now so that we can save up some money for whenever I have to go on it. We are afraid that I am going to have tog on leave sooner than I would like because I work at a daycare and my boss says that she will relieve me if I can't pull my load. Yeah.... Like we can afford that!

A couple of times at work, my boss would pull out the stool & say ".I have *got* to sit down.. My back hurts sooooo bad." .Then she'd sit her ass down & stay there for like 25 minutes! Leaving *me* to do all the work! Confused

I had the best bosses and coworkers when I was pregnant. They were always making me sit down, always offering to run out to get me drinks or treats, not letting me lift anything, not letting me go up and down the stairs to the basement. They even threw me a surprise shower during the annual summertime pool party and on my last day we had a pizza party. I loved them and I really miss working there.

Sad
