Need to Talk to Someone Who Like Me Has Epilepsy Posted: 02-08-04 12:11pm
Would love to hear from anyone who has
epilepsy and would like to share your
stories and problems. I have not yet been
fully diagnosed but neurologist seems sure
it is epilepsy. The problems I have is
that friends and family don't understand
what I am going through or the problems I
face.

A lot of people don't "get it." imo,
there's so much more to epilepsy than just
the seizures themselves
(as_if_that_wasn't_enough). Some
other things that come to mind are:
·social stigmas (eg people still
believing that epilepsy = demon posession.
The belief still exists!!!
I've encountered it many times).
·executive functioning deficits (eg
memory, attention, face recognition, word
& name recall)
·mental health (such as depression and
anxiety)
·job problems
·dependency on others (eg inability to
drive)
what's nice about having forums is being
able to communicate with others who really
understand a good number of the problems
you may be undergoing. Hope you keep
