Im not sure, but ive heard that they use
certain chemicals sometimes that can
induce labor, and also the fumes can be
harmful (not to mention nauseating)
someone else might be better help, but id
say be very very careful if you do go

Through out my pregnancy I got my hair cut
everymonth but I didnt get it dyed, I know
thats not good , atleast in my opinion, as
for nails, the only time I didnt get my
nails done was through out my pregnancy,
its the fumes that arent good to breathe
in for baby, if its not really strong
smelly then I wouldn't worry about it if
you're just painting ur nails but thats in my
opinion

It is extremely difficult to be sure
whether anything is totally safe during
pregnancy. No one wants to conduct an
experiment about a potential toxin on a
pregnant woman, so many times we have to
rely on animal studies or incomplete
information.
I would be really cautious about acrylic
nails, considering they would need to be
redone often, and the fumes in nail salons
are often pungent. I would take advantage
of the stronger nails you have while
pregnant and forget the acrylic nails, or
wear a mask at the salon.

Hey there. I don't know if there is any
actual evidence or not as to whether its
bad so I can't help you with expert
advice. But my boyfriends mom and another
good family friend of mine both own nail
salons and they worked throughout their
pregnancies without any problems. So I
would think if they are there 6-7 days a
week and several hours a day that you'll
probably be fine getting your hair and
nails done.

it's not like anyone has done a randomized
controlled trial on getting your nails
done when pregnant, so there's nothing
known about whether it's harmful. But
when you go and sit and have someone do
your nails, your exposure to any
potentially dangerous chemicals is pretty
minimal. And many women who do nails keep
doing the job while pregnant. The long
and short of it is, who knows? But we
have no evidence that it isn't okay.

although there's no real scientific
evidence of harm, there could be a
theoretical risk because a lot of nail
products contain organic solvents, like
toluene in nail polish or the acetone in
polish remover, and there are some
questions about whether organic solvents
may cause problems in people who work with
them all day. So I would tend to err on
the conservative side and tell people to
avoid nail salons during the first
trimester, when the fetus is most
vulnerable.

I got my nails done during my whole
pregnancy. I dont' dye my hair or have
it cut in one of those places (most of
them don't know how to cut curly hair. )
but I got my nails done and my baby is
fine.

I've been an esthetician for over 6 years
and having manicures well pregnant is fine
...Just let the person know you are
pregnant ...I have heard dying hair isnt
good pedicures on the other hand are a
different story usually if pregnant then I
will leave out the massage( the best part
) as it at times has been known too induce
labor...Just a nice light 5 minute massage
would be best and gawd knows when your
pregnant nothing feels better then someone
rubbin those feet :p
