Classes
Posted: 02-04-07 19:39pm

I am only 9 weeks pregnant and does anyone know when I should start going to classes? I forgot the name of it, but I just want to know what month can I join? And also, when am I going to start showing? Ive seen in some pictures that some girls havent started to show til the middle of the pregnancy and some showed in the beginning of the second trimester.

you can go to classes whenever you want.

I didnt go to classes, instead I read about 500 books on pregnancy, parenting, breastfeeding, etc.
Turthfully, nothing can prepare you for parenthood.

I started showing at 6 months. No one can tell you when you will show because everyone is different.

I think id rather get books also. My doctor gave me about 9 magazines, but I think baby books will be a lot more help. Where can I buy the best baby books? Theres a library here, but its so small they dont have a big selection of books. And what books should I get that will be helpful throughout my pregnancy?

I got some at target, some at borders, and some at barnes n noble.

Just go to the pregnancy/baby sections when you go there.

A very popular general book is called "what to expect when youre expecting"

then they have the baby book,

"what to expect the first year"

i also read "your pregnancy week by week"

those are just a few, they have tons.

Your library should be able to order books from other libraries to loan to you. Ask the librarian.

Okk. I will check up on them books. The only magazine I got that really helps me, is a magazine that shows what your baby looks like each month. They have pictures of it and it tells you what it looks like and other stuff.

I went to lamaze classes with my husband toward the end of my pregnancy..They teach you a lot of things about labor, baby care, etc... You can check with your hospital..Though when it came down to it, the breathing exercizes didn't help me much at all (it did help my husband in terms of helping me when I was panicking)..Also, if it's available where you are, I would recommend pre-registering with the hospital...I did it with my first 2 pregnancies but never got around to it with my 3rd....It was a huge pain in the butt to have the registrar asking me questions while I was going through active labor..

My mom told me to go to lamaze because she said its a big help. So in order for me to register, I would need to go to a hospital and sing up there? Because the nearest hospital here is 20 miles away. But my gyno is only 2 miles away from where I live, can't I sign up there, or no? Id really love to go to classes and start learning asap.

Check with your doctor and find out where you will deliver...He/she should be able to tell you whether or not you can pre-register with the hospital...It was a big help with my first 2..I wished I hadn't postponed it so long with my third...

My doctor doesnt even mention prenatal classes until 24 weeks, but you can really start any time, I however would suggest not doing any serious intensive classes/reading until at least 20 weeks (or around there) so you can remember more, you do too much too early and forget about it later on you could easily forget

as for showing, its hard to tell, im 25 weeks and still not showing much, I know some people who started showing at around 15 weeks or even earlier and some people dont show until like 35 weeks (i think bridget said she didnt show until then, iheartmybostonterrier, or something like that)

Well, ill ask my doctor when I can start my classes. I read about after birth and everything now so I can learn, but im going to read more each time until birth. Then im going to get books on after birth and what to expect from that. Well, does it matter if your alittle chubby right now, does being alittle overweight make you show earlier or that doesnt matter? I heard the skinnier you are, you dont show until really later. I dont think its true, but I dont know.

no. That isn't true. Everyone is different, no matter what their size.

Books??
Posted: 02-07-07 17:15pm

I was reading the post and someone said books. You guys reminded me of these good book there called “ pregnancy” and there’s one called “guide to self -care “(health quest)” I got them when I was in london I really don’t know if its available here but they are excellent books.

Good luck

i didn’t want to start a different post sense you guys brought it up do you know any good class’s in michigan or maybe online? I also heard yoga was good for pregnant women.
I am not pregnant or anything but I am planning to become pregnant but just some info for the future I think it might help.

well it doesnt really matter if your chubby before, just watch what you eat now, eat healthy go for walks and stuff

and like ingi said everyone is different, everyone shows in their own time, from my experiance its usualy the thin people that show sooner (cause they are little and have no chub on them to hid it) and the bigger people show later (they have more to hid it)

im "big" and I still havent started to show much, only a few people who know me can tell that im pregnant by the way I look
