Irritation of the Insides From Drinking? Posted: 02-05-07 02:25am
I was drinking heavy just twice a week for
a couple months then it turned into 4 days
a week then that matured on into
everyday.I was cheap at the time so I
drink about 2 bottles of mad dog 20/20 or
more everyday somtimes less for a couple
weeks. I was going through some
depression and depended on drinking as my
only alternative. I noticed a lil
swelling in my right and left lower sides
and could only feel it if I put pressure
on it everytime I would drink heavy after
maybe just 3 days. I ignored this and
kept on drinking for a couple days heavy
then woke up the next day with soar
kidneys which went away after a 2 or 3
days and irrtation of the insides maybe
swelling around the adominal area not pain
but just awareness of the feeling and this
went on for a couple weeks. Its been
about a month all pain is gone but I feel
a lil mild irritation in the liver and
somtimes a lil pain around inside like I
said though nothing serious just lil mild
pains. I would go to the doctor but have
no insurance and also I dont really think
its that serious because I havent had any
other symptoms just the minor pain. I've
talked to other people some have had this
some havent. What I dont get is I know
people who drink about a 24 pack of beer
everyday and have been for about over a
year now and have no problems at all so I
doubt it could be anything serious since
it hasnt really been a long-term problem
just matured into alcoholism for maybe a
month. Personally I think since im a
really skinny person that could of made a
difference and the fluids maybe built up
inside my adominal cavity and took a while
to get rid of which caused irritation and
swelling in there. I read in another
thread it could take 6 months for liver
enlargement to go down so my liver could
just be returnin back to its normal state
since its only been about a month and a
half or more. Has anybody had similar
symptoms or problems? What do you think
it might be? I've been kind of worried
about it since its somthing new for me
hopefully its nothing serious if I could
get some feedback it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi diplomaticpiff don’t take these
symptoms to be light. You should know
that too much drinking can lead to liver
damage, stomach cancer and many other
things. And as you stated that you have
been drinking for pretty long time and
that too frequently, you should always
take care of these facts. So, don’t
leave these matters just like that. I
would suggest you to see a doctor
immediately and get you check up done as
soon as possible. And if you feel that
it’s becoming difficult for you to stop
drinking then go for some rehabilitation.
They are very useful. Hope this will help
you. Take care.

Hey well you mentioned those heavy
drinkers were fine, but that is totally
wrong. Alcohol is a toxin and overloads
the body in an attempt to rid of it,
causing enourmous damage, you dont wont to
wait until your a bit older when your in
deep trouble. If you can afford to buy
all those drinks everyday you can afford
to see a gp, or even a counciler or
someone to stop your drinking. Dont leave
it to late buddy!

Forget about looking at other heavy
drinkers who seem to suffer no ill
effects; concentrate on your own symptoms.
We each react uniquely. You could be
experiencing liver and pancreas problems.
I urge you to seek professional help.

You are MINIMIZING and guessing.. I have
a young friend 49 years old with stage 4
cirrohsis from years of beer drinking
since high school and he didnt go to a dr
either. If you have no insurance try to
get medicaid coverage by going to social
services and filing an application.. if
you are in NYS you can try to get Healthy
NY for low cost coverage for those
working.. but DO something! Youre body is
trying to tell YOU something.. like STOP!
there are many programs out there, just as
you found this site you can find help..
start with a gastroenterologist to check
your liver enzymes, your pancreas, throat
for varicies.. your liver can get better
if you dont wait til its too late.. as
they say, Its what YOU DONT know that can
hurt you.. God Luck

Listen closely: Alcoholism runs in my
family. I have had what you had. My
doctor said it was overdrinking (he
guessed it completely with no information
from me). He told me to stop drinking,
stay off aspirin products, and not to go
without eating. I had been drinking
heavily and not eating a lot. My doctor
guessed this, too. He said the large
amount of alcohol basically undiluted in
my organs was doing damage to them.
Alcohol is posionous to our bodies.
That's why we pee so much. Our bodies are
trying to get it out as soon as possible.
I HAVE A BROTHER WHO WOULD BINGE DRINK FOR
DAYS AT A TIME. HE DIDN'T EAT OR TAKE
GOOD CARE OF HIS BODY. HE'S 40 AND HE'S
BEEN IN A COMA FOR 4 MONTHS!!! ONE BINGE
(AFTER FLOODING HIS BODY WITH POISONOUS
ALCOHOL) CAUSED HIM TO HAVE A HEART
ATTACK. HE DIED BUT WAS RESUCCIATED.
THIS FINAL PIECE OF BODY ABUSE LEFT HIM
WITH MASSIVE BRAIN DAMAGE. HE WILL NEVER
MOVE AGAIN. HE IS ON LIFE SUPPORT. HE
HARDLY SHOWS ANY SIGNS OF LIFE. HE WOULD
NEVER HAVE LET THIS BE THE WAY HE LIVED,
BUT YEARS OF ABUSING HIS BODY WITH ALCOHOL
EVENTUALLY DESTROYED IT. YOU DON'T WANT
TO END UP LIKE HIM.
