Would You Date Someone With Herpes?
Posted: 02-05-07 08:21am

I had just contracted herpes..............And suddenly everything seems different now. Its not a deadly disease and true enough, sex is not everything in a relationship., but hey, who are we kidding, there are couples who will never get married if they had not had sex and I have friends who wont start a relationship after know how the sex life like.

We are in the 21st century where sex is part of life. It is somtimes used to determine how hot/fun the relationship is/could be.

So.....I would really like to know, (from guys especially), if you fancy a girl and after a few weeks dating, you learn that she's has herpes from previous relationship, would you still have continued on? Would it be a shock for you to accept?Would u think that getting herpes = someone who sleeps around/loose?

Well for me it all depends on the girl and how open she is with it.

Sadly, if the girl/guy didn't want a relationship with another herpes carrier, there's really nothing to blame them about. They also want to protect themselves.

Maybe this would be a good test to find true love?

Well.........I'm a chick but since only one dude responded..........Here's my 2 cents...........................Honestly?. ...........First reaction?......No.............But you did say after a few weeks of dating.........It would be a shock and frankly the "thought" of the person being "loose" would cross my mind

..........You have a long tough road ahead of you.............And if some guy gave that to me, let's just say he'd have an expire date stamped on his forehead.........Yea, it will be a major test of true love.........Most guys are turned off when they find out you got kids?! Smile

I wouldn't have a problem dating her. The catch would be: would I have sex with her? Not before marriage, and even then I would be wishy-washy. It's a massive adjustment to go through which I don't know if I could handle it or not. I certainly wouldn't have a problem seeing her though since I don't base relationships off sex.

Loose? lol I am far from it- and I have it Smile If anything- I am the preppest looking sandra bullock look-alike goody goody with a trucker mouth lol jk [i am though ^.^]

I would- even if I didn't have it. I would date someone with it..because to me- sex is not everything. I guess maybe that's because of my age.. and the guy would have to tell me the story. Be upfront. Because if you are truely honest with the person, and you are healthy, and maintain good control of your herpes...then I know you care a great deal about your health..and you are "aware". Active. That's important.

I haven't ventured into the dating world again.. I have to be mentally stronger now- because there are going to be ones that will freak out and walk away. I just wish people would keep that in mind..when the person is telling you their horrible secret Sad

I am gonna say that I would if I truly loved the person, and that does not include sex. Sex is something society feels is a part the relationship, true love will come without sex. So to answer your question if I loved her yes like you said its not life threating its just a nuisance that I would gladly live with or protect myself against if I loved her.

well said answers. Anyone got rejected before because you have herpes?

how do you break the news to someone you have herpes?

if you had been told by your date/partner that he/she has herpes, how do you react??

It only takes one encounter so that's always worth bearing in mind!

In all honesty I think it would depend on how long I'd been dating him (i'm a woman lol). The main thing that would influence me would be honesty about it!

i believe love has no bounds. so i would say the answer would be yes.
i would have a relationship with someone who has herpes. i believe we fall in love with people for who they are, not with what they have or don't have.

Condoms protect against herpes too don't they? then yeah, I would have sex and a relationship with you, if you were open & honest about it, and I liked you enough.

If I had it and was dating, I'd just say (after getting to know the lady) "hey, there's something you need to know before we go any farther, I have herpes and here's how I got it, and this is what I go through to make sure it doesn't spread to others..." and so on. Be as open and honest as you can, let them sort out their feelings about it (don't push them) and be happy with how it turns out.

Good luck to you!

This is a tough one. Loosing your health for someone, I would just have to be in the situation to be able to tell. I guess it would depend on the person and must be like only if i'm going to marry the person. But to experiment around no way.

There is online chat rooms and dating sites for people with herpes. If I had herpes I would definetly check out those sites. Nothing to loose.

you can still get herpes even wearing a condom.

I would but I would probably not have sex until/if we got married.
