Q: Will PCOS and FET treatment harm the embryo?
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 5th, 2007
i underwent FET on jan15. i was asked to do ablood test on 23jan with aspirin, cyclogest metformin given to supplemnt the fet. i thought that i was not pregnant since i was not having any symptoms. i did not take a test and stopped all the medicines w/o consulting the dr. but my breasts were sore and stomach bloated. i tested on 4 feb at 5weeks and 4 days and the test came positive. i went to the dr who did a scan and said that he saw the yolk sac. ihave started all the medicines but now i so frightened that i may have harmed the child. also sore breasts and bloated stomach have gone away. i am so scared. what do your opinion?

The medicines you’ve taken have helped you to get pregnant and probably won't harm the embryo. You may continue taking metformin and cyclogest (progesterone derivatives) to prevent miscarriage. Women with poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) beside sterility, also have an increased risk for miscarriage. An evaluation of the early pregnancy can be done by measuring the level of human chorion-gonadotropin (HCG) in your body. HCG-levels should double once every 2 days. Regular ultrasound-scans are also necessary for monitoring the health of your child.

You can consult your obstetrician for an expert opinion and follow up.
