My new stepson (age 1 1/2) has been
diagnosed with a severe cat allergy.
Obviously my two cats must go, but what
about carpets, sofas, etc.? Does anyone
have experience with this issue?

I don't have experience with this, but if
you have your carpets professionally
cleaned that might do the trick. And they
can do your sofas and drapes or curtains.
Good luck.

Most allergens are food either in the
environment or in food. Environmental
allergens include pollen, mold, animal
dander, dust, feathers, insect venom,
certain cosmetics and household products,
etc.
Keep rooms free from dust, keep windows
shut (use the air conditioner whenever
possible), and use a dehumidifier in the
basement.
Vitamin c and quercetin both are good
natural anti-histamine agents and
therefore important in the treatment of
allergies. Bioflavonoid mix potentiates
the functions of vitamin c. Msm and
essential fatty acids contained in
flaxseed have the property to reduce
inflammatory reactions and are therefore
indicated in the treatment of allergies.
Thymus is included in the treatment of
allergies as it has been shown to calm the
immune response. Lactobacillus
acidophilus are thought to reduce the
potential for allergies.
