Disappointed Mommy

How can I help my daughter talk? She's already 15 mos. Old, and the only word she knows is .Mom. She communicates in other ways, such as pointing, whining and making "ugh" sounds. I can understand what she wants, by all that and her crys... But as a mom, I guess I just want to hear her talking. Her doctor said it's not a concern yet, b/c they give them up until their 2nd birthday! That's too long... Crying
or Very sad

on the plus side, she gives me kisses and hugs!! :d

My son's big sister was exactly like that untill she was 3 yrs. Old. She would only say mama and dada for the longest and other then that shre did the grunts and whins and points and all that. They went as far as to bringing her to a speech therapist. It wasn't untill they stopped giving her what she wanted and started making her say what it is she wanted. Like if she wanted something to drink they kept it simple at first and all she would have to say was cup or sippy. Well now she's 3 and she dosent stop talking. You just have to give them that extra push and then let them learn the rest of the way on there own. She'll get it eventually.
Hope it all works out.

You can't get her to talk.. She will talk when she is ready. 15 months is still little.

From the time trey was born, I always told him what I was doing when doing it (in 2 languages) and I .N.E.V.E.R baby talk him. His bottle was a bottle and not q baba's, his food is breakfast, lunch, supper and not num num's, etc...

When he was starting to talk, I would not let him have something that I knew he knew how to say if he would just grunt for it. I would wait for him to say the word.

I agree, they will talk when they are ready. My stepdaughter was 19 months old when my husband and I started dating; she could not say a whole lot at all. It seems like she really picked up talking at about 2 1/2-3 years old. She is now almost 5 and will not stop talking!!!!! Laughing she now knows words that you wouldn't expect a 4 year old to know! She has also picked up a few dirty words from her mother's house. They will talk soon enough...Don't rush it.
