Sitting Up
Posted: 02-06-07 21:16pm

I know that every baby grows and does things at their pace. Even I say that my daughter is lazy but I know that she isn't really. Now, this being said, are the excersizes that I could do with my daughter that would help her strenghten her back muscles and whatever else would help her sit up? I am not trying to rush her....Just help her. We do our floor excersizes everynight......Tummy time, which she does anyway.....And we stand up and stuff like that, but what about sitting up? What can we do?

Try sitting her up and hold her hands (well, kinda let her hold yours.) allow her to use her own muscles to hold herself up by holding you... Thats what im doing with .Caty and shes already sitting up for a few seconds on her own. I did the same with .Jacob.

My son sat up alone at 6 months and I never did exersises for that except the boppy. I just looked up when babies generally sit up on their own and it says 7 to 9 months, so youre totally fine.

( I know thats just a general guideline)

I realize that .Amelia is totally fine. I was just wondering because we have a rutine and I just wanted to maybe add some stuff to the nightly games and things we do. I dont want to rush her just help her.

Sandra, thanks but we do already do stuff like that. I guess that is all I can really do. We do our stretches, our tummy time, stand up time, sit up time, play time with our little games, and our massages. I guess that is all I can do and she will be sitting up before I know it.

Thanks guys.

I try to help .Alyvia sit up, by sitting her down and holding her hands for balance. But she pulls on my hands and stands up. Neutral and she tightens her whole body like a board so it's hard to get her legs to bend sometimes. So .I'm right there with you, .Gen! Laughing

Yea holding there hands are good and stuff, jordynne like sit when u hold her hands and she can sorta pull herself. She likes to be sat up but to early for the boppy kinda . She enjoys beined held so she can sorta stand or stretch her little legs out and stand on them with my help lol. She hates to lay on her back so eh maybe she will be a crazy crawler and be all over the place. I think joseph learned to crawl before he sat up on his own at all, it took him a while to sit up lol. Jason would joke that his head weighed him over cu zhe had quite a big head when he was born lol

i think that amelia will be crawling before she sits up becaause she can get up on all fours for a few and then she topples over.

The best exercises that you can do to strengthen back muscles are usually done on the tummy. From 17 years of ballet all of our back exercises were done with our bellies on the floor. Also balance comes from the abs. So her tummy time is already getting her strong!!!!

Wow 17 years of ballet????? I thought 16 years was a long time. I stopped after 16 years and did my .Tae kwon do. 19 years of that.

.......Well then I am doing the right things. She is perfect I know, but I just wanted to help her. But she will be doing it soon enough.
