Hello. I'm New Here Posted: 02-07-07 08:31am
My name is christopher. I'm 30 years old.
I have been married for 8 years now to a
very loving and supportive wife.
About 2 years ago I attempted suicide. I
tried to cut my self, and failing in that
I burned my self several times with a
lighter. I ended up in the hospital for a
little over two weeks, maybe longer,
before I signed myself out ama. I saw a
pyschiatrist for a while and attended
therapy, as well as got medication. The
diagnosis I was given was "major
depression", tho several doctors thought I
could possibly be bipolar. Well after a
couple months of help, meds and therapy, I
stated feeling better, and stopped taking
the meds and stopped going to therapy.
Last week, after months and months of
feeling depressed, I actually began to
think of ways to die, and how dying would
make my life so much better. In a breif
moment of clarity, I called my wife and
told her I needed help. The next day I
saw a new psychiatrist, and a social
worker, and a therapist. After several
hours of questions, interragations, exams
and tears, I was told that I have bipolar
ii disorder as well as
obssessive-compulsive personality disorder
(not the same thing as ocd). Im back on
medication, but truth be told, I still
hurt very much inside. I have moments
where all I want to do is cry. I know I
have only been back on meds for a couple
days, but...I just want to be normal. I
just want to stop hurting. Thats why I
came here.
Thanks for listening.

Hi christopher...Sorry to hear about your
events I know they can be very stresfull
on living a happy life. First and
foremost you pointed out why you feel
depressed today. If you read through
your post you say that you were happy and
living an ok life after the first onset of
therapy and meds. Then you got off your
meds and stoped going to therapy and all
went down hill...This sounds very very
common...Hell i've done this numerous
times.
One thing is you really need to try your
hardest and get down some diciplin. Its
really hard to do but if you need to be on
meds then stay on them if they
work...Period.
Never stop seeing a psychologist untill
they tell you it might be a good idea to
cut back on sessions. But also make sure
your seeing one you feel comfortable with,
it makes a huge difference.
Being bipolar and having many opnions from
many Dr.S i've came to the conclusion that
I am. I have very text book outbreaks
and mood swings considering what im doing
with my life. It takes time to get
everything sorted out but sometimes all we
need is a little advice.
Depression is very situationl I
believe...If your having a hard time @
work, with a relationship etc your gona be
depressed lol...Its human nature. Once
you get all these things sorted out then
its time to evaulate your head.
When on solid ground, take a look at
yourself...If your not happy then take the
steps to see whats bothering you....Which
I see you have but you need to stick with
it.
Stay up and feel free to post here
whenever...There are many good people
here. ^_^
