C-section (yikes)

I was told I may have to a c-section due
to the size of my baby. With my first
baby I was able to have him vaginal. The
thought of cutting open my stomach sickens
me. Is there anyone that can give me any
advise or has experienced a c-section and
can tell me a little about it. I want to
know the good and bad of it and what I
need to do to prepare myself. Thanks for
any advise you can give.

Well the good part of it is that you don't
have to go trough labor, you schedule your
appointment you go, get your epideral and
within an hour or depending how fast the
hospital is you will have your baby. The
down side to it is that for the few weeks
after yuor c-section you will need help
from family. You will have some pain
walking around. I say some because every
one is different. I suggest that after
the c-section and after your recovery, no
matter how much pain your in try and walk
around otherwise, the longer you stay in
bed the harder it will be to get up. I
got up to walk around one hour after I
woke up from my recovery. Good luck.

Thanks lee25. I think that is what i'm
most concerned about , the recovery. I
already have a 17month old and know i'll
need alot of help.
I have read that the first step afterwards
is the hardest. They said it feels as
though your insides will fall out. Did
you have stitches or staples?
How was that when they took them out? I
know I sound paranoid, but I never thought
I would need a c-section.

Hey, I had a c-section with my daughter.
Unfortuantely it was not because she was
too big or anything, while I was in labor
her heart rate started dropping so they
had to do an emergency c-section. The
good thing about it, is that I barely felt
anything when they cut me. The only
thing I felt was a lot of pressure being
released when they took her out. The bad
part was the pain I was in after the
c-section and the scar that will always be
there. So, I wish you luck.

Scar? Uh!!! I thought they did the
incision at your bikini area. Pain? Did
they give you any good pain medication?
I'm going to be nursing and i'm afraid I
won't beable to take any medication for
the pain.
Thanks for everyone's advise.

Yea, when I was still in the hospital they
gave me some really good pain medication
for it. And they prescribed me some good
medication when I got out, but it did not
take away all the pain. When they cut,
they will do it one of two ways,
horizontally or vertically, mine was
horizontally, so, yea, wearing a bikini
would cover mine. Good luck to you. I
wish u the best

Sounds Like Me..

My story sounds just like babygirl, I had
a little boy, the pain after wards hurts
so bad. I was so drugged up I didnt even
know he was out and I was back in the
room. I was scared and crying so I think
thats why they gave me so many meds.
But it was serious after that, I got a
blood clot from the c-section, and was in
the hospital for about 2 1/2 weeks, I
didnt even get to go home with my baby. I
also have lupus now, they say the stress
of the child birth can cause it.
I'm scared to death to have another baby,
i'm only 20, I want more kids, but I dont
want to go threw the pain or even death in
my case.
I hope I didnt scare anyone. I just need
to share my story to see if theres anyone
else like me and had that much trouble.

Oh jeez, that really worries me. I did
ask for the good and bad of having a
c-section though. I'm sorry you had to go
through that. I hope mine goes alot more
smoothly. Don't be afraid to have other
children. Each delivery is different.

Don't be sorry. I wanted to know the good
experiences and also the bad. I need to
prepare myself. I am really sorry to hear
about your lupus. Lupus is new to me, my
mother in law was just diagnosed with it.
I've been going to the lupus forum and
reading up on it as well. I do wish you
luck in having babies in the future.
Thanks
shannon

Hey,
I dont know much about lupus, no one
seems too. Its kind of weird that not
many people know anything about it. My
problem is I cant find a doctor to take my
insurance that deals with lupus.
I found a support group I still have to go
to the first meeting on thursday. I hope
everything works out cause lupus is
something that needs to be taken care
of.
So what are you having....How old is your
first child?
Mines two
well its nice talking to ya
good luck

I only know very little about lupus. What
I have learned is from this health forum.
Have you looked under the conditions and
diseases forum and then go to lupus. It's
just like the pregnancy forum. You can
ask all your questions about lupus. I
have noticed a woman on there
(lady brannon) who also has lupus and
seems very informed about the disease. I
bet she could answer alot of your
questions. I think it's great your going
to a support group for this disease. It's
so important that you take good care of
yourself.
I'm having another boy. I was really
hoping for a girl. My son is 17 months.
I'm really going to have my hands full.
Go the the lupus forum and get educated
about your disease. If you want to talk
about anything, feel free to e-mail me.
Take care
shannon
