How Long Should I Wait Before Seeing a Doctor? Posted: 02-07-07 19:39pm
I have been trying to get pregnant for
over 8 months and ever month I am visited
by my lovely friend. I have been pregnant
before and some of you know how that
ended. I worry I might not be able to
have children anymore.
Anyhow my question for you guys is how
long should I wait before I see a doctor
about checking my fertility.
I am 25

i'm sorry, i'm not quite sure what
happened to you to make you think that
you're not fertile.
I think the normal length of ttc before
seeing a fertility specialist is about a
year. But if you feel that something
damaging has happened I would check with a
doctor now to see what if anything has
happened.

Are you tracking your ovulation every
month? If not, I should warn you that the
window to get pregnant is actually quite
small. You have to get your timing right
for it to happen. To maximise your
chances, you should start tracking your
periods and ovulation dates.
If you need help with this, let us know.
You could also visit the forums called
".Getting .Pregnant" located on this
website. The girls there are all trying
to conceive (ttc) and are very nice and
helpful.
Good luck!

It's a good idea to talk to your doctor
know that you are trying. Then he/she
can ask for updates and refer you when
he/she thinks it is appropriate. You can
also bring it up with your ob/gyn during
your next annual. I've heard that one
year is typically the minimum before you
get a referral to a specialist when you
are under 35. But, doctors might
consider your specific health background
and refer you sooner or later.

I went to see a gyn after trying for 9
cycles, she told she could refer us as
infertile till we try for 1 yrs. So she
did some blood tests & u/s ,
everything came out normal.
But its all ways good to talk to a gyn
& to check up to see if there is
something wrong. Good luck.
