Cervical Cancer Related Hyst Posted: 02-10-07 10:39am
Can anyone relate to wanting to keep their
uterus so bad that it hurts!? Doc's
continue to wish me to have hyst...They
would like to do a second cone biopsy
immediately to discover whether it will be
necessary to want a radical vs total
hyst.
Call me crazy but I had such a bad leep
and cone the first time I am horrified.
I was layed up for a month after the cone
and my bladder and sex have not been the
same....Does anyone have any advice?

my personal view (not medical view) is
that if possible try everything else and
kep a hyst as a last resort.
However, when it comes to cancer of the
cervix/uterus unless in the very early
stages, often a hyst is the best form of
"cure".
You ought try to make an appt with your
doctor to sit down and discuss this.
not at a gyn appt, but make an appt to sit
and talk.
Take a notepad and jot things down.
make a list of questions before you go and
leave spaces to note answers so you can
refer back.
things like
do I have cancer?
how advanced is it?
what are the possible options for
treatment?
what does each one entail/how is it
performed?
what are the success rates of each one?
may I be so nosey as to ask how old you
are and why you want to keep your uterus?
If you are hoping for children I
understand, if you are older and are done
having children, then maybe consider a
hyst where the ovaries are retained.
it is the ovaries that produce the
hormones and help reduce the need for hrt
and the risk of osteoporosis.
good luck

Hi Zenobia444 ...respose to Your Heartfelt Message Posted: 06-27-07 22:13pm
I am 30 years old and have cervical
cancer. I Have been through leeps,
cones, and D&C,. You are right things
are just not the same with your body. I
had bleeding issues, pain etc. However,
the last cone showed they could no longer
wait because cancer was in a rare place.
My heart was shattered. I wanted to be a
mom more than anything. One dreams about
how they want things when they are grown
up to do it. The inability to not have a
choice, to have children thrown in my
face, and insensitvity from people in my
life is very hard. I caution you... This
was my best choice, However I was given no
information, and one should not make this
decision lightly. I have had alot of
problems associated with this procedure.
I had it on 5/14/07 and I am still all
screwed up.
