About Pain Management
Posted: 02-10-07 22:46pm

My fiance was in a car accident nov. 5th, resulting in a torn aorta, shattered pelvis, broken hip, broken arm.. He was in a coma for a month, had open heart surgery, screws and plates put in both his pelvis and arm,his lungs failed a few times, his kidneys failed he developed large bed sores that became infected (i believe it was staff), his stomach was cut open to relieve the pressure in his lungs, and he has extensive nerve damage in his leg and foot. *phew*
he is home now, doing physical therapy and what not..
My question is: they have him on so many medications, methadone, oxycodone, nerve blockers, antidepresants, blood pressure...The list goes on and on. Should I be worried that they are over medicating him? Or maybe mixing deadly cocktails? I know anna nicole smiths son died of a mixture of antidepressants and methadone, and marcus is on a whole lot more then that. Should I request we get someone to pay close attention to his pain management. Do they have doctors for this specific thing?
Thanks for readin.

Question
i'm very sorry that happened, and I hope everything goes well...But this is a pregnancy forum. You may find someone here that can answer that, but if you scroll all the way down you will see there are other parts of the forum that may help you more than we can. Good luck!

*edited to add*

here is a link to the addiction and recovery part of the forum, you may get more answers there. (i realize he's not addicted to meds, but more than likely someone recovering may know quite a bit!)
you will have to make all the upper case letters to lower case in your browser.....

This isn't a pregnancy forum, It's addiction.
