Am I Suffering From Anxiety? Posted: 02-11-07 16:04pm
It all started in september. My legs and
hands and a bit of my arms, kinda felt
tingly and numbing. Just a little bit
tho, but it took over my life for a few
weeks. I constantly thought about it,
then I eventually had a panic attack.
I've never had one before so I went to the
hospital. They said I was fine and I was
let go an hour later.
Now I tend to worry a lot about my
symptoms. I always fear that I have the
worst diesease (cancer). Let me start, I
had a pretty nasty cold in mid november.
It lasted a few weeks, and I then had a
bit of sniffles with a congested throat
for another 2 weeks after that. I then
experianced dizziness, a bit a spinning
maybe? I don't really recall, it was more
of a fuzziness. I had this for a week,
which then turned into a really really
heavy headed feeling. It was horrible.
That only lasted 3 days. From then on
i've had aches all around my body. Just
little dull ache in parts of my body.
They are off and on during the day. This
has been going on for about a month now.
At the start of the aches, my lower back
and just above my groin area was really
achy. It didn't effect me physically at
all, I played hockey and all that stuff.
I actually couldn't feel the ache when I
was playing, but after sitting down and
doing nothing it would come back.
Like I said now its just a dull ache
around my body, mostly in parts of my arm
and in my hands. Occasionally i'll feel a
bit of an ache in parts of my face..Sounds
weird but whatever. I notice at work,
where I stand up the whole time, that my
upper back aches and feels kinda stiff.
This could be from the cheap black
polishable shoes I am wearing. When I sit
down my upper back feeels better.
I now have the feeling of that dizziness
again, with a bit of lightheaded feel, and
some headachess. I'm not feeling weak and
I was tired pretty much all day yesterday,
but I still went out partying.
Like I said I tend to worry alot about my
symptoms, I think I have leukemia, I
constantly research the internet for
symptoms of it and think I have it. Which
I doubt I do. I'm thinking i'm suffering
from anxiety, as pretty much all day I
think about my symptoms and try to
convince myself that i'm fine.
I went to the doctor about the aches and
he said I probably had some viral
infection. I'm thinking now its from
anxiety..

First of all, a doctor told me that a cold
does not last for weeks. I was always
like that. I have sinus problems and
allergies. You need to get yourself
checked out. Numbness and tingling are
symptoms of many illnesses. You are
getting yourself worked up with anxiety
wondering what is wrong with you. If you
need to go to your hospital.

Well, I didn't mean my full blown cold
lasted 2 weeks, my full blown cold lasted
about 4 days. And my nose was just stuffy
and had a congested throat for a week or
two after. Plus a cough, that only lasted
about a week. It's hard to recall a few
months ago, I was just kinda guessing.
Now im trying to recall and yea..

Spants I also worried about everything and
blew things out of proportion when I was
younger. It's a miserable way to live and
I didn't realize all my worrying made
everything worse. Try and get involved in
cognitive therapy and learn how to change
the way you think about things to being
more objective. There is a cognitive
training exercise called the tea form that
helps you learn how to stop worrying so
much. I think it would help you feel
better.
