"Here are some things you may notice during the first 3 months of use:
Greater monthly cycle regulation
Spotting or bleeding between periods
Lighter monthly flow
Nausea
Reduced cramps
Bloating"

"In clinical trials, ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO had a low discontinuation rate (4%) due to adverse events. The most frequent adverse events resulting in discontinuation were headache, cervical dysplasia, emotional lability, nausea and abdominal pain.

ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO has a low incidence of breakthrough bleeding and spotting—an inconvenient and sometimes embarrassing side effect. In a clinical study, fewer than 1 in 5 ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO users reported these potentially embarrassing side effects in their first month on the Pill."

"ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN LO has not yet been studied for the treatment of acne. ORTHO TRI-CYCLEN is indicated for the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris in females ≥ 15 years of age, who have no known contraindications to oral contraceptive therapy, desire contraception, have achieved menarche and are unresponsive to topical anti-acne medications."

"Oral contraceptives are not for everybody. Most side effects of the Pill are not serious and those that are, occur infrequently. Serious risks, which can be life threatening, include blood clots, stroke and heart attacks and are increased if you smoke cigarettes. Cigarette smoking increases the risk of serious cardiovascular side effects, especially if you are over 35. Women who use oral contraceptives are strongly advised not to smoke. Some women should not use the Pill, including women who have blood clots, certain cancers, a history of heart attack or stroke, as well as those who are or may be pregnant. The Pill does not protect against HIV or sexually transmitted diseases."

Morena,

Are you taking your pill at the same time everyday? Depending on the pill you're using and your body's chemistry, breakthrough bleeding can occur if you take a pill a few hours later than you regularly do, especially if you're getting near the end of your cycle. It's also fairly common for women to experience breakthrough bleeding if they've been on BC for less than 3 months and their bodies are still in the process of getting used to it.

I've been on 6 different brands of the pill before finding one that works the best for me - levlen 28. My experiences with ortho tri cyclen and ortho tri cyclen lo weren't good and I took each of them for over 3 months before I switched to something else. You might want to try switching to a lower hormone monophasic pill. I never experienced any breakthrough bleeding while on the monophasic kind - maybe you'd have good luck with them too!

I have had a great expereince with ortho-lo. My acne has decreased, my menstrual cramps are almost non-existant, my periods are shorter, and supposedly my breasts have filled out a bit, but I doubt that last one Wink I think my bf is just being sweet.
