Desperatley Needing Answer?
Posted: 02-12-07 16:32pm

I cant shake the feeling that I am going to miscarry? Last winter I had an etopic pregnancy. I have become very worried. Every pain or cramp I have has me sick with worry. I am only 8 weeks pregnant. Can I demand a ultra sound now by my doctor? Is there any advice?
Please help

I dont think you can really demand an ultrasound, you can suggest one but its ultimatly up to your doctor and your insurance, unless you want to pay for it out of your own pocket

just talk with your doctor about your concerns, slight cramps are normal in the begining, as long as your not bleeding you and your baby are most likely fine

I live in canada so our ultasounds are covered though ohip...I just want to be on the safe side and can they not tell you everything looks ok once they do an ultrasound? This will be my first child so bare with me I have many many questions. When can I expect to be out of the "scary part of the pregnancy"

If you were going to miscarry, there's not much (if anything) your doctor would be able to do to prevent it. I understand your fears - I had them myself. But try your best to relax and enjoy your last months of freedom - it's insane what little of your former life remains once you have a child!

Your doctor will order an ultrasound if he/she sees fit. Until then, just hang in there. Good luck!

Hi welcome to ehealth!

It's totally normal to worry during pregnancy, especially after having a loss. Cramping a bit is normal at this stage of pregnancy. If you notice severe cramping or bleeding then you may have to worry. As for an u/s, you may be able to request one. I had my first at 5 weeks (and another at 9, 13, 19, 32weeks) because of high risk, but I think that is only after 2 losses.

I had 2 miscarriages and went on to have a healthy beautifull son who will be 2 this summer! Mr.

oh sorry I didnt see that Embarassed im a little preoccupied today watching psyco kids lol

but no they cant always tell you for sure if something is wrong or not and if something is wrong its very difficult if not impossible to stop it, like laura (aya) said if your gonna miscarry your gonna miscarry (sorry to put it that way but its true) there is nothing your doctor can do to stop it short of putting you on bedrest and sometimes that wont even work

U can get an ultrasound but I dont' know that it will show if you are going to m/c. What you need to do is relax and try not to stress out about it. Hopefully everything will be fine.
