the Snowball Effect... Posted: 02-12-07 17:42pm
So tonight I have marching band practice
for 2 1/2 hours. I really don't want to
go. I want to stay home and sleep because
I have .S.O.L bowling championships
tomorrow and I need to rest. However, I
can't. We (the marching band) leave for
.Spain in 11 (eleven!!!) days. That is
right. Less than two weeks. So we are
practicing our asses off to get ready.
I'm not packed. I have no idea where any
of my stuff is, .A.N.D I have to be
finished most of my state-required
graduation project before .I leave.
Seriously, everything is just piling on
and I can't stand it. It feels like i'm
drowning. I'm also currently only pulling
a c+ in geometry and a c+ in social
studies, and my mom is so mad. I really
am trying, but those two classes are so
involved...It's like you can't take them
concurrently because both involve so much
work.
And I have to miss an entire week of
school for the .Spain trip. That's going
to take a month an a half to catch up, at
least. I...I don't even know what to do
anymore.

It's a cliche, but take everything a step
at a time. Purposely block out
everything else and concetrate on only one
thing at a time. I have a tendency to
get overwhelmed and if I make myself
develop tunnel vision I do a lot better!

Dang i'm sorry band is taking up alot of
your time, but it's worth it no? I loved
marching band when I was in high school,
so much I even joined an independant
winter percussion group in college, but
that fell through. What instrument do you
play? I can't believe you get to go to
spain, so lucky. The only place I ever
went out of state was to dayton, ohio for
the winterguard international competition.
Lol it was the only year we were ever
world champions in our division, I was
lucky!
What marching band are you in? >_<
not that I would recognize the name if I
haven't competed in marching band outside
of california.
Dunno if you've ever heard of san marcos
or logan high? Logan's marching band has
over 200 people in it!
Lol, wow I wrote alot, but good luck with
your hw and much luck in spain, have lots
of fun, the language there is awesome, so
different from the spanish used in mexico.

Different from every other spanish, but
easier to understand I think.

if .I had a baby to take care of while
trying to do all this, there's no way .I'd
be trying to do all this!
I'm home....My shoulder is absoloutley
killing me. I threw it out during our
match last .Wednesday, then had to bowl
three games the next day, then six today,
and .I'll have to do two tomorrow.
Band went as well as a band rehearsal in
30 degree weather can go. We were in the
stadium, under the lights, but my hands
still froze.
I play mallet percussion (xylophone,
marimba, vibraphone, and bells) so it's
all about my hands. I dropped mallets
eight times and broke one. It was pretty
sad.
I am going to finish my .Slurpee, take
some flexorel, and then see how .I'm
feeling.

Weee a fellow percussionist. Dang you
must have been hauling a$$ if you threw
out a shoulder playing mallets!! O_o!
I never used to snap my mallets, but dang,
I had to re-yarn mine all the time.
That's why I like the xylophone best,
hehe, no yarn.
Did they every make you march just for
kicks? I know our marching band made our
pit (do they call it the pit where you
play?) march and run right along with
them.... Didn't really see the point
seeing as we had no drill, but whatever.
Kay, have you seen pan's labrynth? Aka:
el laberinto del fauno?
The spanish on that seems harder to
understand than spanish in mexico, what
with their "comais" "bebais"
"vosotros".... Lol, I never could grasp
that part.
