Advice Needed About Non Perineal Tear
Posted: 02-13-07 11:45am

Hi,

i wanted some urgent advice from anyone who has had an episotomy or nonpernieal tear, im feeling very worried and distressed.
During labour I experineced a non perineal tear...Which the midwife did stitch up...My baby is 4months old but that area is still very sore and I get bleeding from it sometimes. It looks as if the area is bruised and swollen.

Im real worried about it....It feels as though the area wasnt stiched correctly..Im not sure as to what I can do. I have taken a course of anitibotics jus incase there was any infection present but it hasnt made any difference.
I didnt feel comfortable to hav my doctor to look at the area as he was a male doc...A month ago the docs nurse did look at and jus said it will probly heal up itself..

I dont knw what I should do about it...Im not sure whether I should go to the docotrs again or jusr give it time? Then again isnt 4months enough time and I should get it sorted.

Has anyone else had non perineal tear I was wondering whether its a serious complication ? Does any one have any advice as to what I should do? Is this problem common? Its my 1st baby and I dont knw what is normal.

I would b grateful for anyadvice
thank u

I havn't ever had a tear, I have c-sections only. I think that maybe you should call your doctor and have another visit and have him look at it. Hun he has see this a number of times and can tell you whats going on. If you aren't healing right then it needs to be fixed. You sould be healed somewhere between 6-8 weeks .P.P. So call your doctor and don't worry about him looking down there. I know it's odd but he is used toit.

Keep us informed.

Thank you gen for takin the time to reply...
Your right I should definitly go back to the doctor, I didnt want him to think I was making a fuss so I jus thought to let it heal itself...But

i knw its silly but I cant help but worry the midwife didnt stitch the wound up properly.

Thanx again hun for the advice
