Only 2 Pounds In 2 Months?

Alyvia is only 13 pounds 5 oz
she's dropped to the 10th percentile in
both weight and height. Her doc said
she's doing just fine, but she's only
gained two pounds in two months! Does
that seem right to any of you?
*sigh*

ya a pound a month is average. What did
she weigh at birth??
also keep
in mind that some children can normally
move up or down on their growth curves
when they are 6-18 months old. As long
as they are not actually losing weight,
and they have no other symptoms, such as
persistent diarrhea, vomiting, poor
appetite or having frequent infections,
then it may be normal to move down on your
growth percentiles. Older children
should stick to their growth curves fairly
closely though.
General guidelines for your younger
child's growth rates include: weight:
2 weeks - regains birth weight and then
gains about 1 1/2 - 2 pounds a month
3 months - gains about 1 pound a month
5 months - doubles birth weight
1 year - triples birth weight and then
gains about 1/2 pound a month
2 years - quadruples birth weight and then
gains about 4-5 pounds a year
9-10 years - increased weight gain as
puberty approaches, often about 10 pounds
a year

hope that helps. You and hubby don't
look like big people either so it's normal
that you'd have a petite baby.
She's healthy, beautifull and doing all
the right things she should be doing so I
don't see any probs.

How old is she??
Nathan is such a skinny boy. He has
always been in the 10th percentile for
weight and around 75% for height (father
is 6'6). I am surprised he is not
taller. My son was never a rolly polly
little boy and I have always been
completely worried about his weight. We
have been to a few doctors and they all
said that he is doing fine. We now have
to buy clothes with the elastic adjustable
band so his pants don't fall down.
Regular clothes just don't work for nate.
You are small, too so perhaps it's
genetics. I feel so bad for nathan. He
has genetics seriously working against
him. I was always too skinny as a child
(skinny minny and olive oil for
nicknames). For the longest time, I was
the shortest and the skinniest in school.
To top it off, through high school my
husband was the tallest and skinniest in
school.
I guess what I am trying to say - long
winded - is that I think your child will
be alright. My little boy is pretty
healthy and sounds very similar to your
little girl.
I understand your concern and can't tell
you not to worry because worry is
completely normal.

She was 6 pounds 13 ounces at birth so I
don't think she's doubled her birth weight
at 6
months. Double would be, what, 13
pounds 10 ounces? I'm really trying not
to freak out, because her doctor told me
she's doing just fine. Doctors know this
stuff, right? It just, I don't know,
doesn't seem right to me at all. I was so
convinced she'd at least be 15. I can't
help but worry.

give her a bowl of cereal and re-weigh
her, she'll have doubled it-lol
a couple of ounces is not a huge deal
unless she weighed like 2lbs or something.
She hasn't lost and is eating and doing
everything she should be so I would try
not to worry.
I had the other worry, I though trey was
gaining too fast. I .T.H.I.N.K he's
slowed down now but I too could be totally
wrong.

I wouldn't worry. She was a small baby
at bitrth and you and aaron are small too.
I don't think that you have much to
worry about. Now if she were my baby I
think that I would have to worry because I
am no tiny tinybut and my husband was a
biger boy. He wasn't fat at all but he
was 6'3 and weighed 198 and I am 5 foot
and weighed 120. I weigh less than that
now, but I still look bigger.
Amelia was just 14.5 when we went to her 6
month check up. She was doing just fine.
But then again she lost a lot of weight
over the christmas holidays and all.
I think that aly is fine.

She's just a petite little girl. I'm sure
if your doctor was concerned he would have
said something. She's doing great!

I agree with the other ladies, .Aly is
just a petite little girl. As long as
she's eating normally and not losing
weight she'll be fine. You're a great
mommy and .Aly is lucky to have you!

Thank you my darlings!
I've been baking cookies for the past hour
and a half, so .I've had some time to get
over it I guess. She ate rice cereal and
yellow squash for lunch with a boob for
dessert so I think she's
doing just fine now!
and making cookie dough sucks when you
don't own a mixer

That's why I *hate* the "percentile"
rating!!!
Reguardless of the percent, she's
perfectly healthy!!!!!!!! I'm serious!!
Just because she's on the lower end,
doesn't mean she's unhealthy.
It's her genes. Look at you and .Aaron.
You're both petite, along with the rest of
yalls family.
Oni was tiny at birth too. Remember when
her Dr. Said she was going to be "obese"
if she kept eating like she did??? Well I
didn't change any of her eating habits and
now she only gains about a lb a month.
Now that she's(.Aly) getting more mobile
and active, it's expected for her to
maintain a specific weight gain. Ie,
1-2lbs per month!
She's beautifully perfect!!! Don't you
worry about anything. Take that
"percentile" and wipe your ass with
it!!!

Lol...I say that because .Oni's been "off
the charts" since she was a month old.
Her nurses never tell me the percentil
unless I ask, and that's when they tell me
she's off the chart
i guess it makes people feel good to hear
that their kid is in the "90th percentile"
or whatever.
But they don't think about the moms whose
baby is in the 5th to 10th ya know???
Makes them feel like crap, or that their
baby is *too* small. When, in fact,
they're healthier, or just as healthy as
the others!
