Sinus Pressure With No Drainage
Posted: 02-13-07 15:04pm

For months, now, I have been having severe pressure behind my eyes, in my ears, and above the roof of my mouth. I also often have spells of chills (with no fever, usually below normal oral temp), cold and numb extremities (fingers, toes, parts of feet) and other areas just cold (nose, lips, and eyelids), a wired/dazed feeling, difficulty speaking, and tightness in my chest/abdomen.

Until I was about 20 (i'm 26 now), I got sinus infections twice a year like clockwork. So, I have lots of experience with sinusitis, and this feels very different. For instance, I have no fever, little or no drainage (and what I do have is clear), and rarely any sinus pain, just the severe feeling of pressure.

This has begun to affect my life quite a bit. I have great difficulty concentrating, little sex drive (i am married and monogamous), and I can rarely relax or sit still.

I do have herpes and shingles outbreaks 2 or 3 times a year, and spent a year in the middle east in 2003-2004. I can't remember having any of these symptoms prior to that, but I did drink quite a bit back then (part of the military lifestyle), but quit drinking completely in late 2004. I also dropped about 20 pounds shortly after returning to the states, and have since stayed about the same weight. I eat very healthy, avoiding fast food and glycemic carbs (as much as possible, no sodas, etc).

Any insight will be greatly appreciated. I'm starting to feel like a hypochondriac, every time I notice a new symptom.

Hi I'm new, this is my first post.
I've been in the same boat for about a solid week now, it's starting to really freak me out because this has never happened to me before. I'd get the occasional headache if I didn't eat for a while or if I was stressed at the office but never like this. Pressure behind the eyes, cheeks, roof of the mouth (sometimes tingly), bearable but still a nuisance. I've also noticed veins in the side of my forehead more pronounced than usual, almost as if my blood pressure has jumped but I don't have any heart related issues that I know of (and I've had a cardiogram). I've been using Otrivin (sinus spray) for the past 2 weeks which doesn't seem to be helping so I'm starting to think it's not sinus related. The pressure makes it hard to fall asleep (but I do eventually and I noticed that I have to keep my head level, like put my arm under my pillow) and the pressure is there first thing in the morning, subtle at first but gradually grows to full intensity as I stand and walk around. At 6am I run about 5km (3 miles) at least 4 times a week and the pressure seems to go away but comes back later on. The pain isn't excruciating, I'd say a 2 or 3 out of 10, but it's still really annoying. And like stated above, no drainage.
Really strange. I hope it isn't serious. Thoughts?
