My Husband And I Are Trying to Have a Baby

I am so sick of everyone telling me that if it's meant to be, it will happen. I have already took the step forward by going to the doctor for a checkup to see if I am healthy enough to get pregnant. She ran some tests and my progesterone came back too low and she said that I wouldn't be ovulating with my progesterone that low. Ok, what I want to know because I have been told all kinds of answers, is how was I having a monthly flow if I wasn't ovulating? She put me on clomid, I was given the wrong directions on how to take it ( I took it days 1-5 of my cycle and then found out on a follow up appointment that I was supposed to take it days 5-9 of my cycle, that's just great). She sent me for another progesterone level check and it came back normal and she said that I should be ovulating on my own now. She now wants to check my husband's swimmers and then if that comes back ok, then she wants to me to go through some horrible sounding procedure she called " blowing the tubes" but I can't remember the medical terminology she used. Does anyone know what that is and what they do in that procedure? Has anyone had it done and gotten pregnant fairly soon afterwards?

Hi waypastready.

I asusme your doc wants you to go for an hsg - they inject dye through your tibes to make sure they are not blocked. I had it done - it is usually part of an infertility workup to make sure your anatomy is ok. Mine did not hurt at all, the worst part was the needle in my cervix to numb it so they could get up there. Was done in the radiology dept of local hospital. I hope this helps you. Clomid is not for everyone so if it doesn't work for you there are other options out there. Be sure to ask lots of questions of your doc.

im sorry you have to go through all that. it is hard when the people around you are so not understanding. the last thing a person who wants a baby so bad wants to hear is it will happen when it is supposed to! i had people tell me i didn't need to go to the Dr and it will happen, obviously i did since i was put on clomid right away. the clomid did work for me though, i had ovulation issues. i never had an hsg done but a girl i know did and she said the same thing the worst part was the numbing.
but at least you will have it done and you can narrow down anything that might be wrong and really get going on it! it might just have been the hormone levels and that can be treated. good luck!
