Can I Have Cildren If I Have Emphysema? Posted: 02-10-04 14:13pm
Hi!
I am 27 and I have emphysema. I don't
have any symptoms, yet... And I found out
about it by accident after an x-ray that
i've done for a medical paper. My doctor
told me that I need a lung transplant if I
want to have kids. I search for some
information about this all over and I
didn't fine anything.
What do you know about this?
Can I have children if I have emphysema?
Thank you,
dana

Hey! Posted: 02-15-04 02:03am
I have seen this posted for quite some
time and still no replies, so sorry!
Well since you were diagnosed you most
likely or should know all the symptoms of
emphysema. The most logical answer might
be no. Think of the symptoms of
pregnancy then think of the symptoms of
labor; the heavy breathing the intense
amount of stress it’s like running a
marathon with emphysema. As the symptoms
of your condition worsen you will be
incapable of the slightest exertion along
with respiratory failure and cardiac
complications with those symptoms how
could you give birth but with the
developing medicine of today you never
know the best thing to do is contact you
physician. And maybe there is a way to
have a baby. Don’t give up your search
for that right answer, anything is
possible!
