Valentine's Day Dinner Ideas? Help!
Posted: 02-14-07 11:52am

Does anyone have any ideas for a nice .Valentine .Dinner? I'm broke and i'd really like to be able to make a nice meal for my hubby tonight...Especially since he has to work both jobs today. I got him a card from me, and one from the baby.

How about something italian? Chicken parm is pretty easy. Then just light some candles and maybe have some wine and a nice salad.

Oh, and a yummy dessert! I would say chocolate dipped strawberries but I bet strawberries are pretty expensive right now and maybe even hard to find because of v-day.

Grilled steak (or chicken or salmon) with herbed butter
potatoes au gratin or rice pilaf
green beans almondine or fruit salad
red velvet cake
some form of dinner roll
a little wine
and you can serve baked pita chips with some kind of dip as an appetizer

I've been searching like a mad woman for different recipes online and there are too many to choose from. Does anyone know any tasty mexican dishes? I want to try and make something i've never made before....And hope like heck it turns out! Laughing

everything is lowercase except the 'id' after the question mark.
Now I also found a recipe for "tres leche" cake and my husband loves it...But he also likes my red velvet cake. Hmmmmm what to do, what to do.

Well .Jess, I found strawberries...But they were over-priced and mostly white....Definately not edible. I hope you can find some good ones! Soooooo i'm going to make a chicken dinner sort of thing with a rice dish and a nice salad. Then i'm making some weird dessert that hopefully turns out delicious!

Mandi, you *have* to try them sometime. My parents used to own a bakery and they made them for weddings, I would always steal as many as I could get away with. Sooooo good...

Thanks .Bridget...Make my mouth water even more. My mom is always buying strawberries (she always finds good ones too...On sale even) so i'll have to swipe a few and try 'em out. Mmmmm I really want one now.
